About this repository This is the public home for Talkpad on GitHub — product information, release notes, and answers to the questions people ask before they download. Talkpad itself is a closed-source commercial app, so there is no application code here. Bug reports and feature requests are welcome in Issues, and other feedback is welcome at hello@talkpad.ai.
You press and hold a key. You talk. You let go. The text is in your document.
That is the whole product, and everything below exists to make that loop fast enough and accurate enough that you stop thinking about it.
| Types where your cursor is | Talkpad inserts into the active text field in most places you can type. It is not a notes app you copy out of. |
| 99%+ transcription accuracy | Cloud-powered AI transcription using the fastest speech models available. Release the key, the text is there. |
| 100+ languages | Automatic language detection, or pin one language for faster results. Switch mid-sentence if you actually think that way. |
| Real-time translation | Speak your language, type theirs. See below. |
| Regional English spelling | US, UK, Australian, or Canadian. Set it once; "organise" stays "organise". |
| Automatic punctuation and filler removal | Commas, capitals, and the "um"s you did not mean to say are handled for you. |
| Intentional recording, never always-on | Talkpad listens only when you deliberately start dictation: with a shortcut on desktop or the microphone control on mobile. |
Every AI dictation tool transcribes the language you spoke. Talkpad also types the language you need.
Use the separate translation shortcut on desktop, or the translation control on the mobile keyboard, and Talkpad translates as you dictate. The translated text goes straight into the field you were already using — no translate tab and no copy-paste step.
Who this is for
- Anyone writing to customers, colleagues, or suppliers in a second language every day
- Support and sales teams handling international inboxes
- Developers and PMs whose thinking language is not their team's working language
- Anyone who writes faster in their own language than they type in English
Speak Spanish, send English. Speak German, send Japanese. It is the same push-to-talk motion you already use.

Works with any microphone your machine is set to, including AirPods, AirPods Pro, and most Bluetooth headsets.
The free plan is free forever and does not ask for a card. It is metered by words, not by transcription quality — you get the same transcription engine and all 100+ languages that paying users get.
Included on Free
- 2,500 words per week on desktop
- 1,500 words per week on mobile
- 100+ languages with auto-detect
- Regional spelling variants (US / UK / AU / CA)
- Filler word removal
- Push-to-talk controls
- 14 days of Pro included for new accounts — no card required
Where the free plan stops
- The word counter resets weekly, not daily. Heavy days can spend the week's allowance.
- Priority support and early access to new features are Pro-only.
- Team management, SSO/SAML, and volume licensing are Enterprise-only.
For context: 2,500 words a week is roughly 15–20 substantial emails, or a few long AI prompting sessions. If you dictate all day, you will hit it — and that is who Pro is for.
US$8/month
US$10· or US$72/yearUS$90— that's US$6/month. Applied automatically at checkout. Limited time.
The standard annual plan is 25% less than twelve monthly payments; the launch offer takes a further 20% off both billing options.
Free forever, or $8/month for unlimited words while the launch discount lasts.

Talkpad's privacy model is a design constraint, not a policy page.
- No retained audio. Audio is sent over an encrypted connection for transcription and is not retained by Talkpad after processing.
- No transcript database. Dictated text is processed to produce the result but is not retained in a transcript database. We count words for plan limits, not content.
- No model training on your voice or text by Talkpad.
- No always-on screen context. Talkpad does not watch your screen or read the app you are in to guess context.
- Only the account and subscription data needed to run the service. This includes account details, plan and renewal state, and aggregate usage counts — not what you dictated.
Full privacy policy.
- Hold your dictation shortcut — choose a shortcut in Talkpad's desktop settings. Use the separate translation shortcut when you want translated output.
- Speak naturally — normal pace. Punctuation and capitalisation are handled for you.
- Release — the text lands at your cursor.
If an app blocks insertion, the last transcription stays available in the menu bar and falls back to your clipboard, so a missed paste is never a lost thought.
