Model Picker 0.3.0
Model and effort suggestions for Codex and Claude Code, powered by TypeSafe's JEV. You make every switch; the plugin never changes a setting.
New in 0.3.0
- The first check of a thread can suggest a smaller model. Start a short summary on Opus 5.5 or Astra, and the reply opens with a lighter pick and the line "This task looks lighter than your current setting." Later checks only suggest upgrades as the task grows. (#8)
- A lighter suggestion does not start the 15-minute cooldown, so an upgrade soon after still shows.
- New config key
suggest_lower(defaulttrue). Set it tofalseto keep every automatic alert an upgrade.
Since 0.1.0
- Claude Code support (0.2.0): Haiku 4.5, Sonnet 5, Opus 5.5 and Fable 5.1, with
/modeland/efforthints. Opus 5.5 long-context sessions (claude-opus-5-5[1m]) are recognized. (#4) - A logo, shorter README with diagrams, CI on Python 3.9 to 3.14, and a PR gate.
Install or update

Run /plugin update claude-model-advisor@model-picker in Claude Code or codex plugin update codex-model-advisor@model-picker in Codex. If your marketplace was added from the old feat/claude-code-support branch, remove it and add Tatendaz/model-picker again; that branch is gone.
You need a TypeSafe API key, billed separately. In Codex, trust the hook in /hooks. See the README.
