- Blender 5.0 or 5.1 (Windows)
- League of Legends installation (for Riot-base and WAD workflows)
- ~200 MB disk space for WAD hash files (downloaded on first use)
Pillow is not required in current versions.
- Download the latest release ZIP from GitHub Releases.
- In Blender: Edit → Preferences → Add-ons.
- Click Install and select the downloaded ZIP.
- Enable "Rey's Mapgeo Blender Addon" in the list.
- Open the 3D Viewport sidebar (
Nkey) — two new tabs appear:- LoL Mapgeo — core map tools
- League Tools — project manager, editors, importers
- Open League Tools → Project Manager.
- Click Detect League Install or manually set the path (e.g.
C:\Riot Games\League of Legends). - The addon uses this to locate the game's WAD archives for asset extraction.
Your project folder is where map files live. Typical structure:
MyProject/
├── data/
│ └── maps/
│ └── mapgeometry/
│ └── map11/
│ ├── sodapop_srs.mapgeo
│ └── sodapop_srs.materials.bin
└── levels/
└── map11/
└── map11.bin
- In Project Manager, set the Project Path to your project root.
- Click Scan Project — the addon detects map variants automatically.
WAD hash files allow the addon to resolve WAD archive entry paths.
- Open League Tools → WAD Archive Tool.
- Click Download WAD Hashes.
- Wait for download (~180 MB total).
Hash files are stored in the addon's
hashes/directory and are automatically shared across Blender versions.

- Manual check: Click "Check for Updates"
- When an update is found, a download link is shown in the panel.
- Download the new release ZIP.
- In Blender: Edit → Preferences → Add-ons.
- Remove the old addon, then install the new ZIP.
- Or simply overwrite the addon folder and restart Blender.
WAD hash files and cached data persist in
%APPDATA%\Blender Foundation\Blender\<version>\mapgeo_addon\and are not lost during upgrades.
