Personas are the people who need to communicate efficiently, and currently have trouble with it, so we're building Water Cooler for them.

The creative team

  • This team is a creative team, meaning the engage in a large amount of open ended discussion for a bulk of their work.

  • Task delegation and schedule management are important, but they serve the creative enterprise rather than drive it. (in contrast to a 'process oriented' team, where task delegation is most of their communication.)

  • This team is largely technologically literate, but not necessarily teach savvy.

  • They produce a bunch of non-text artifacts and need to talk about them

  • They need to reference past discussions around clients, projects etc

  • They need to talk to clients and other people outside the system

  • Examples: Cogmark, KCC

The Dev Shop

  • This team engages in open ended discussions, often related to problem solving.

  • They value efficiency in communication, and have likely tried various realtime and async communications platforms, with varying degrees of success.

  • Most of the users are tech savvy

  • They need to reference past discussions of problems and whatnot

  • They need to talk to users and other people outside the system

  • Examples: Structural, SA
