Water Cooler Vision
-
Water Cooler is team communication evolved.
-
Current communications tools often lead to fragmented conversations (email) or unreadable histories (chat) and generally make it hard for an enterprise, especially a not-super-tech-savvy to look back on their past discussions and analyze their previous decisions. Water Cooler will provide teams with curation, organization, search, and any other tools necessary to make looking back at past conversations manageable and helpful.
-
It respects that people communicate in ongoing, branching, error prone conversations, not individual snippets.
-
It respects a balance between the need to share information and organizational structure with your team and the need for individuals to have private data and personal organizational structures.
-
It provides a really elegant way to communicate with other water cooler users.
-
It provides a reasonable way to communicate with external contacts via email.
Email is perhaps the largest and most ubiquitous text based communications platform on the planet. It is used in all kinds of contexts, from quick personal chats to large group discussions.
In the area of group discussions, especially where teams in the workplace need to have open-ended and problem solving oriented discussions, those discussions often become fragmented, difficult to follow, and in many ways hard to manage.
This is because the metaphorical model for email is physical mail, yet is being a used for a type of communication that much more closely resembles a human conversation.
Water Cooler is the beginning of building a better way to engage in text based open-ended discussions. It's design will prevent common email pitfalls, while still providing backwards compatibility with discussion participants who are not yet using it.
In order to execute on our vision of better communication for the people who need it we are going to complete these Business Objectives.
