Latency Adjustment

ToneForge allows you to choose between different latency modes, adapting audio processing for better performance or greater stability:

  • Low Latency: Prioritizes fast response, ideal for live performance
  • Balanced: Compromise between latency and stability, recommended for general use
  • Stability: Prioritizes quality and robustness, ideal for recording

The selection can be made in the app settings, with detailed information, latency estimates, and recommendations displayed in the interface.

The selected mode automatically adjusts buffer size, sample rate, and oversampling, optimizing audio for the chosen profile. The choice is saved and automatically restored when opening the app, including after background use.

Note: Low latency mode depends on Android device support. On older devices, it may not be available or have limitations.

Tips for Best Performance

  1. Use headphones: Reduces feedback and improves monitoring
  2. Check permissions: Ensure all required permissions are granted
  3. Background mode: Enable for continuous processing
  4. Oversampling: Use for better quality when CPU allows
  5. Preset management: Organize your configurations
  6. MIDI integration: Use external controllers for hands-free control
  7. Automation: Record parameter changes for dynamic performances
