v2.0.0 Stable Release
Moto Buds Desktop Utility V2.0.0
Build Environment
- Platform: Linux (amd64)
- Version: 2.0.0
- Node: v20+
- Electron: v30+
- Electron Builder Config: AppImage, deb
Changes in this Release
- App Icon: Replaced generic React icon with a premium custom Moto Buds earbud design across all menus, app launch interfaces, and OS taskbars.
- Dual-Pane Design: Overhauled the primary user interface to split diagnostic information (battery/connection) from functional toggles (ANC, Sound Menu, Gestures, Find My Device).
- In-Ear Detection: Optimized UI reactivity. The interface now updates instantaneously utilizing optimistic state mutations, bypassing Bluetooth async bottlenecks.
- Find My Device: Introduced ringing capabilities with in-ear safety checks to prevent hearing damage.
- Fit Test: Fully functional independent seal tests for Left/Right buds, interpreting dual byte payloads.
- Custom Gestures Configurator: Built out complete independent Double Tap, Triple Tap, and Hold configurations mapping directly to Linux MPRIS proxy actions (Play/Pause, Forward, Voice Assistant, Noise Control).
- Attribution Footer: Added author repository links and profile credits inside the "More" tab.
- Dependencies Update: AppImage and deb archives now natively declare
python3andbluezinside package rules to ensure nativempris-proxybridging exists upon installation.
⚠️ Important Connection Instructions
- Connect to OS First: Please ensure your earbuds are natively connected to your OS via your Bluetooth manager BEFORE pressing the "Connect" button inside the app.
- Troubleshooting: If you connect your earbuds after launching the app and experience slight connectivity issues, simply disconnect and reconnect the earbuds from your OS Bluetooth manager.
- Troubleshooting: After Launching the app if the gestures dont work just cycle the application close it and open it again. This is also a common troubleshooting step with most issues.
🐧 OS Compatibility
Currently, this application relies on the Linux BlueZ Bluetooth stack. It is 100% compatible with Linux.
Note: We are actively investigating a Windows port, but it requires a significantly different backend architecture and will take some time.
