Required Reading

Ninety-five percent of what you need to know to install the MPU can be learned by reading Sparkfun's guide, Hacking the MiP - ProMini Pack. The MPU is based on Sparkfun's original ProMini Pack, and installation is nearly identical.

Check out these excellent guides, too.

Parts

  • 4-pin ZH JST connector with wires.
  • The Wemos D1 mini or a compatible board.
  • The MPU: D1 mini.
    • 4-pin ZH JST female connector (these come with the JST wires linked above).
    • 2x female headers, 8-pin.
    • Right-angle female pin header, 2-pin, optional for the debugging port.
  • An FTDI adapter, optional for the debugging port.
  • 3x screws (1/2", 4-40) to attach the MPU circuit board to MiP's battery pack.
  • 3x nuts (4-40)
  • 3x screws (M3 x 12mm) to install the assembled MPU and battery pack in MiP.

Assembly

Before following the instructions in SparkFun's guide, you must solder your own components onto the MPU. All parts listed above are through-hole components and are easy for beginners to solder.

Once everything is soldered, follow SparkFun's guide, remembering to reinstall MiP's arms.

Next steps
