Remote Producers and hosted clocks

1.5.0 puts the whole 13 Years engine in a shared Swift package, ThirteenYearsClockKit. The Mac and iPad Producers run on it, and so does a new headless Producer that runs on Linux, so a show clock can be hosted anywhere and controlled from any Producer.

Producer (Mac, iPad)

• Connect To… a remote Producer or hosted clock. It opens in the same window, with a magenta title bar while you're connected. The close button and File ▸ Disconnect (⇧⌘W) end the session.
• Pagers on this network, in Settings ▸ Remote Producer:
  • Control Only
  • Introducer: advertises the clock server so pagers connect to it directly
  • Local Relay: pagers connect to this Producer, which relays to the server
• Your own files on the remote. Open, Open Recent and New from Template load your local run sheets onto the remote. Save writes the remote's state to a local file. Flash a Pager works during remote sessions.
• Planning Center belongs to the remote. Sign in from your Producer; the remote keeps the login and does all the syncing itself.
• Recents and startup. Remote hosts and templates appear in the launcher recents, and "Connect to a remote Producer" is a startup option.
• No broadcasting at launch. A fresh launch doesn't advertise to pagers until a document is open or a relay session starts.
• Settings stay available during remote sessions. Only the local Control API switch is locked. The "Act as Master Controller" toggle is gone.

Pagers (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Mac, web, ESP32)

• Any server, any port. Enter host:port to reach a hosted clock server directly.
• Steadier connection handling:
  • the display dims after 5 s without data and shows the connection screen after 20 s
  • short dropouts no longer pause the countdown
  • Settings show the link state immediately
• Producer time. The local-time clock shows the producer's time, corrected for network delay and in the producer's time zone, and flips exactly with the producer's seconds.
• Follows Introducer hints and magic packets. Pagers act on Introducer advertisements and on magic packets that carry a host and port.
• Readable host field. The manual host field on the waiting screen is easier to read.

Protocol and API

• Faster keep-alive. v2 sends a digest every 2 s, about 30 B/s per idle pager.
• New Control API routes:
  • PUT /v1/document loads a complete run sheet
  • POST /v1/pco/authorize and /v1/pco/authorize/complete handle Planning Center sign-in on behalf of the remote
• /v1/network/master is deprecated.
• ASSIGN_PRODUCER now carries a port and a mode.
• More in the state: utcOffsetSeconds is included.

13 Years 1.4.0

What's new

• The Pager is on TestFlight for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac: join the beta. It is one App Store app on all four.
• Connect by IP or hostname. If your network blocks discovery, type the Producer's address on the pager's waiting screen or in Settings › Producer.
• Steadier connections. Pagers retry instead of hanging when a host is unreachable, and say so when Local Network access is off. They reconnect when they return to the foreground or when the Producer goes quiet.
• Pagers remember your role.
• Apple TV is easier to read from across the room. Messages scroll with the Siri Remote, and the app has a Top Shelf image.
• Mac Pager: it stays awake while full screen, and has a Settings window (⌘,).
• Run Sheet. The Service Flow tab is now called Run Sheet.
• Cleaner headers. Section headers lose their icon, and the sidebar button is larger. On the Mac the sidebar sits right under the timer.
• Remote control: a Producer that is controlling another Producer stops advertising itself, so pagers stay on the real show.
• Plotiphar pairing is hidden for now.
• Loading screens match the current layouts.

Companion module

This build pairs with Companion module 1.4.0 (13yearsproducer-1.4.0.tgz). Its Set UI Mode choices now read Pagers and Run Sheet. Existing buttons keep working.

What's new

• Mac Pager app. A separate app for a crew machine or confidence monitor. Edgeless window, window buttons only while it is active, Keep on top in its settings, and windows as small as 240 by 64.
• Lower third on Mac and iPad. One strip with the clock, element name and countdown. Choose it in the pager settings, or let Automatic switch to it on very wide windows.
• New pager layouts. Portrait (framed) and landscape (timer first) with a Next Item card, outline or full-screen cue display, the cue word replacing the clock, a logo screen after a long disconnect, and the role chooser with chat and settings icons beneath it.
• Producer messages only. Pager screens show only the Producer's messages; a reply from the pager's role clears the standing message.
• Anchored timer and Sync Protocol v2. The segment timer no longer drifts; the Producer's clock is the reference for every pager.
• Connect To… control another Producer from the native UI.
• Documents. .13years and .13yearstemplate on Mac and iPad, autosave and Revert to Last Save, start window.
• Custom screen URL creator in Settings: role, layout, cue display, button visibility, role selection and address, with a QR code.
• ESP32 pager. Portrait redesign, role screen changes; the firmware flashed by the Producer is updated.

What's new

• Start window. The app now opens to a start window with New, From Template and Open cards and a list of recent files, showing each file's folder and when it last changed. Skip for now continues with what you had open last time.
• Templates. Save as Template writes a .13yearstemplate file with your items, roles, waypoints, schedules and settings, with live state such as elapsed time and active cues cleared. New from Template (File menu or the start window) opens one as a fresh untitled document. Regular Save never writes to a template, so a template changes only when you use Save as Template.
• Startup setting. Settings > Startup can show the start window, reopen the last document, or open a specific document or template automatically.

13 Years 1.2.0

What's new

• Documents. Save, Save As, Open and Open Recent in the File menu. A .13years file holds roles, the selected Master Control roles, waypoints, service schedules, service items and portable settings (credentials and tokens are never saved). The open file is saved when you close the window, with a Save As fallback if the write fails. The file name shows at the top of the window.
• Pagers view. The live preview is merged into the right side with a show/hide toggle, a slide animation, and a phone that shrinks to fit short windows. Each role has a message button that opens its thread, a clear-notification button, and a pulsing blue card with a message badge when it has an unread reply.
• Header rework. Edgeless window with the timer, item name, Projected/Actual toggle, item navigation and the STANDBY / GO! / CLEAR buttons in one top row.
• Fixed a stale overlay band that appeared after adding a service flow item on macOS, and a doubled chevron in the pager's role picker.

What's new

• Fixed connection and cache leaks that degraded performance when the app ran for days (duplicate peer connections, dead LAN/peer sockets, backed-up control API clients, relay token cache).
• Web pager now shows the animated stoplight waiting screen when it loses the Producer for more than a few seconds, in both the standard and lower-third layouts. The lower third keeps the local clock.
• The Producer app checks GitHub for newer releases and shows an update banner and an Updates section in Settings.
• HH:MM:SS formatting setting redone as option cards with live examples. GitHub link added to Settings.
