3D Printing Guide
All printable parts live in the
hardware/v2.0
folder of the repo.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Material | PETG |
| Layer height | 0.25 mm |
| Infill | 20–30 % (gyroid or grid) |
| Supports | As generated by the platter project |
PETG is recommended because the device sits in a window and can get warm in direct sun — PLA can soften and warp there.
The parts are pre‑arranged, oriented, and supported on a ready‑to‑slice platter:
Open it in PrusaSlicer (it's a 3MF project, so the layout, orientation, and supports come with it), slice, and print. If you have a different printer, just change the printer/filament profile and keep the part orientation.
If you want to modify a part, re‑orient it, or print just one, the individual
parts are provided as STEP CAD files in
hardware/v2.0:
| File | Part |
|---|---|
motor-housing-top.step / motor-housing-bottom.step
|
Motor housing |
front-plate-1.step / front-plate-2.step
|
Front plates |
back-plate.step |

Window/sill mounts |
lead-screw-gear-1.step / lead-screw-gear-2.step

internal-screw-cap.step |

button-big.step / button-small.step
|
Button caps |
screw-pusher.step / aligner-tool.step

Assembly tools |
STEP files are CAD, not print‑ready. Import them into your slicer (or CAD tool) and orient them yourself before printing — the platter project is the reference for correct orientation.
Don't want to print at all? The kit including 3D‑printed parts ships the plastics ready to assemble.
