feature request - instructions on how to collect logs/dump?

Hello, about a week ago I became the happy owner of a steam deck OLED
and I've already done a rollback/factory reset of the system 3 times - because the system gets stuck/reboots on loading (on checking for an update (like a fix for the rollout) or just on the logo)

I wanted to help improve the system - but I can't find instructions on how to collect logs of system crashes when it hasn't loaded into the steam graphical interface yet - to open an issue - tell me if there are instructions somewhere? If not, I'd like to see them appear)

You can create it with:
Menu > Settings > System > ["Advanced" section] > Create Report
after which you can save it to desktop and view locally, or submit it.

there is no menu at the loading stage - the steam launcher has not loaded yet.

Sorry, I misunderstood, and I meant when you boot successfully.

If you can never get it to boot successfully, there are no other immediate ways to gather logs at that stage -- unless you have previously enabled remote access through SSH, and the network is set up before it locks up. (Which I presume that you haven't, if you haven't already thought of that).

If you are able to boot successfully sometimes, for example if you choose the other slot to boot and if it starts normally, you can create the report from there. This report gathers some info about the previous boot (the failed one), so if you create the report in the first boot after the failed one, it should gather some info.

In that case probably you should Submit the report and get in contact with Support, so they can take a look at it and see if they can identify the problem.

If you cannot get to a successful boot to send reports about failed ones, it's also better to contact support.

@Andrysky if you'd like to debug your steamdeck, you can use the steamdeck devkit tool:

Pairing requires a working system, but after it is paired you can use it when the system is stuck.

If you are stuck during boot and you haven't paired, you can switch to a VT just like in any other linux system using a physical keyboard. And from there you can access a shell and collect logs.

Steam logs are stored in ~/.steam/steam/logs/, and OS logs can be accessed via journalctl.

and can you tell me if there is a repository for "SteamOS Devkit Client"?
because I added my ssh key to the deck and can connect using the system ssh (which uses ssh-agent without problems), but I can't connect via "SteamOS Devkit Client"

and Steam thinks that "SteamOS Devkit Client" is not their development (

in the client itself I also didn't find information on where to write/where the repository is
