Green horizontal stripes on video wallpaper after SteamOS update (Qt bug)

After the latest SteamOS update (on Deck), when using Video Wallpaper Reborn (or any Qt-based video wallpaper plugin) in Desktop Mode, the animated wallpaper shows green horizontal stripes.

Cause identified:
The developer of Video Wallpaper Reborn confirmed this is a bug in Qt's hardware texture conversion, fixed in newer Qt versions (6.6+). However, SteamOS still ships with an older Qt version that contains the bug.

Workaround:
Setting the environment variable QT_DISABLE_HW_TEXTURES_CONVERSION=1 fixes the issue.

Request:
Could you please update Qt to a newer version in a future SteamOS update, so this workaround is no longer necessary? Many users are affected.

Hello @AlmighalX, this isn't something that a SteamOS dev would micromanage. Instead, a new QT version gets pulled in along with the rest of the larger package ecosystem during minor point release (3.x) when everything is rebased on a new snapshot of Arch.

Having written that, looking at https://steamdeck-packages.steamos.cloud/archlinux-mirror/extra-3.8/os/x86_64/, SteamOS 3,8 looks like it's using QT 6.9.1, so something's fishy here.
