Releases: Velantis-Wind/VelantisWind
Release list
VelantisWind 0.1.16
VelantisWind 0.1.16
This release introduces major improvements to turbine screening, spacing validation and raster compatibility.
Highlights
- Added elliptical spacing envelopes for turbine layouts, with automatic orientation, conflict detection and per-model configuration.
- Added a catalogue of 42 turbine
VelantisWind-0.1.16.zip
candidates, including public/reference curves, specification-based approximations and manufacturer-neutral generic classes. - Improved Noise and Shadow Flicker raster compatibility by removing dependency on GDAL's optional NumPy bridge.
- Replaced the Noise XLSX export path with a lightweight standard-library OOXML writer.
- Improved ES/EN/FR/DE translations across the plugin and Interactive Map.
- Refined the Hub interface and layout-optimization presentation.
- Added documentation for spacing envelopes, turbine curves and QGIS compatibility testing.
Power and CT curves labelled as approximations are intended for screening purposes and are not OEM-certified curves.
VelantisWind 0.1.15
- Strong i18n cleanup across Spanish, English, French and German.
- Improved language switching behaviour in the hub.
- Cleaner ISO-aligned noise report for preliminary technical assessment.
- Better handling of imported OEM octave-band spectra.
- Clearer warnings for receiver coverage, meteorological inputs and preliminary-use limitations.
- Repository cleanup for release testing and GitHub publishing.
VelantisWind 0.1.14
- Improves multilingual interface coverage, including French and German.
- Improves runtime translation for visible UI strings, help dialogs, warnings and generated summaries.
- Updates Energy/AEP, Noise and Shadow Flicker localization coverage.
VelantisWind 0.1.12 - Experimental QGIS 3.x / QGIS 4.0 testing release
VelantisWind 0.1.12 is an experimental open-source QGIS plugin release for wind-farm pre-assessment workflows.
This version includes:
- Energy/AEP module
- Noise assessment module
- Shadow Flicker module
- Updated metadata for the QGIS plugin manager
- Clearer PyWake installation guidance
- QGIS 3.x compatibility
- Prepared for QGIS 4.0 testing through updated metadata
Important note:
The Energy/AEP module requires PyWake to be installed separately in the same Python environment used by QGIS.
On Windows, open OSGeo4W Shell and run:
python -m pip install py_wake==2.6.18Then restart QGIS.
Noise and Shadow Flicker modules can be tested independently without PyWake.
This release is experimental and intended for testing, validation, feedback and workflow improvement.
VelantisWind 0.1.11 - Experimental release
VelantisWind 0.1.11
First public experimental release of VelantisWind for QGIS.
VelantisWind is an open-source QGIS plugin for early-stage wind farm analysis, validation workflows and geospatial pre-assessment tasks.
Main features
- Annual Energy Production assessment
- Wake-aware layout evaluation with PyWake
- Noise assessment
- Shadow flicker analysis
- GIS-based wind farm pre-assessment workflows
Installation note
PyWake is not installed through the QGIS Plugin Manager. It must be installed in the Python environment used by QGIS.
On Windows, open OSGeo4W Shell and run:
python -m pip install py_wake==2.6.18Then restart QGIS and install VelantisWind from the ZIP file.
Compatibility
This release is intended for QGIS 3.x.
QGIS 4 compatibility is being evaluated, but it is not yet declared as fully stable in this release.
Status
This is an experimental release intended for testing, validation and community feedback.
