V11
Legacy Offline PC downloader/updater, built on rclone. V11 adds a way to protect songs you've modified yourself, a single clear prompt when you untick songs you've already downloaded, and fixes several update and layout problems.
What's new in V11
- Keep my version. Converted a map to 1080p, or otherwise modified a song? Open Select maps / songs, click the song's row (not its checkbox) and click Keep my version. The song stays tracked, but updates never overwrite your file — it gets a ✓ in the new Kept column, and clicking again releases it. Kept songs are also never deleted by the unticking prompt below. Only songs already on your computer can be kept; a kept song you delete yourself is simply fetched again. (Console picker: F7 on the song.) Saved as
KEEPSONGSinconfig.txt. - One prompt when you untick downloaded songs. Instead of a separate Yes/No for every edition, you're now asked once for everything you unticked: Delete the files, Keep the files, stop updating, or Cancel to leave your picks unchanged. It only lists things that actually have files on disk.
- The self-update window is visible. When the tool updates itself, a small window now shows what it's doing instead of running hidden in the background.
- Tutorials updated in all 13 languages: new screenshots of the main window, song picker, Settings, the "Ready to Play" prompt and the "Update available" dialog, plus the new features above.
Fixes
- Self-updating now works when the tool sits at the root of a drive (e.g.
D:\) or in any folder whose path ends in a backslash — the update used to close the tool and never start. - A failed self-update now rolls back more reliably (it copes with antivirus briefly locking files), and if an update is ever interrupted mid-swap the launchers put the previous version back so the tool still starts.
- The update package is checked before extraction, and a hostile song name can no longer smuggle extra options into rclone.
- The song picker no longer shows songs that exist on the share but aren't in the community song list as unchecked when their whole edition is tracked (display-only — nothing was ever mis-downloaded).
- Settings window: the footer hints no longer run off the edge and overlap in longer languages (e.g. German).
- "Ready to Play" prompt: the last words of longer translations (e.g. Filipino) are no longer cut off.
- Song picker: button labels no longer have their descenders (g, p, y) clipped, and the Keep my version button no longer collides with the toolbar when the window is made narrow.
- The README no longer claims Select maps / songs works while Everything is selected.
Upgrading
From V10, click the V11 Update Available button next to Settings — the tool updates itself and reopens. (You can also turn the automatic check off in Settings.)
From V9.x or earlier: delete everything in your old install folder except config.txt, then extract this zip into that same folder. Your saved game folder, song selections, and language are picked up automatically.
Getting started
- Download
LegacyDownloaderV11.zipbelow and extract it anywhere. - Double-click
LegacyDownloader-GUI.bat. - Follow the on-screen setup — or open the tutorial for a full walkthrough.
Requirements
Windows with PowerShell 5.1 (built into every modern Windows install). Nothing else to install — rclone.exe ships inside the zip (its license notice is in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt). (Or Linux with PowerShell Core + rclone on your PATH — console only; the self-updater checks for updates there too but never applies them automatically, since the release zip doesn't ship a Linux rclone binary — see the README's "Running on Linux" section.)
Antivirus note
Some people's Windows Defender has flagged a release zip as a trojan shortly after it was published (V10 was hit by a cloud "reputation" detection on the brand-new file). It is a false positive: the zip contains only the PowerShell scripts in this repository, language files, an icon, two .bat launchers, and the official rclone.exe. If your antivirus quarantines it, you can verify the download against the SHA-256 shown next to the asset on this page, or read the source in this repository first.
