bcp v0.5.2
Bible picker resumes per book
Each book now reopens at its last chapter; the next-book arrow still enters the next book at chapter 1.
Collects lose the cross marker
The ✠ glyph was read as "make the sign of the cross" rather than a bullet. Collects now render as plain title + text blocks with a 4px left inset like psalms and lessons.
Holy day reference opens on today's feast
The Saints reference pane now defaults to the feast of the day instead of the first saint in the list.
Typography fixes & subheadings
Inconsistent heading sizes across the office, saints, and settings screens are unified. A shared subheading voice (semibold, reader-chosen serif) is introduced for block titles under section rules; it drops its top margin when the block above already owns bottom spacing.
Holy day & Lectionary layout tightened
Morning/Evening labels sit under the PSALMS/READINGS rule without extra space; the gap between them is owned by the group break. The header rule is removed so the first section rule is the only line. Section blocks carry their own bottom margin. Chapter breaks in multi-chapter readings read "Chapter N" in italic grey.
Top bar collapses by width
Narrow desktop windows shed segments like mobile instead of clipping.

The lectionary keeps the right day
The office you open now carries the readings and psalms the Prayer Book assigns to that date. Weekdays were being matched to the Sunday coming up rather than the one just past, which ran their Propers about a week ahead; every office is now anchored on the Sunday on or before it, with Pentecost and Trinity week keeping their own counting. The citations behind the Lectionary were also read back against the printed book, which turned up 57 slips in the transcription: ranges a verse or a chapter out, the wrong book on a handful of days, a psalm missing from Good Friday evening, and the Eve of the Ascension carrying Ascension Day's lessons. The evenings, Holy Week and the holy days were checked the same way, and a script now rebuilds two years of offices and compares them day by day, so a future edit that drifts gets caught.
Every psalm gets its own title
Psalms in the Lectionary stand as their own labeled blocks, "Psalm 20" over its text, the way lessons already do, instead of one run of numbers above a merged block. A citation the psalter does not carry still shows its name rather than disappearing.
Discord
There is now a Discord server for the project, and its invite sits in the footer beside GitHub, with the same link in the About window: discord.gg/Gw3wCgKZTF. Bug reports, feature talk and questions have somewhere to land. The footer gave up its labels to fit: four named buttons plus the version read wider than the pane at its narrowest, so the row is icon-only now, each button keeping its name for screen readers.
Smaller changes
Settings' font pickers are compact rows, the mobile drawer drag follows the finger more closely and stops at its travel limits, and the About window credits the app's sources and links the third-party notices it now ships.

Themes
Ten theme families now dress the whole app, each in light and dark: Canterbury, Oxford, Salisbury, York, Chester, Lindisfarne, Durham, Iona, Washington and Vague. Settings previews each one, and Mode (Light, Dark or System) applies to whichever you pick.
Typography
Interface, heading and body fonts are chosen independently from a searchable picker, drawing on a set of faces the app ships itself. One size ladder backs both the Settings slider and the top bar's A−/A+.
The reader
The chapter arrows now cross book edges, carrying you into the next book and scrolling forward like a chapter step, and each scripture page keeps its own place. Scripture and psalms read at the body size on the pages you pick them from, the Bible, Lectionary, Psalms and Proverbs; only inside the Daily Office do they stay a size down, where the smaller type sets them apart.
Shipped polish
Escape closes one layer at a time, and columns hold their width as the type scales.

The Apocrypha
The fifteen deuterocanonical books now have their own place in the sidebar, below the New Testament, and read like any other part of the Bible: a book picker, a chapter picker, and the arrows at the foot of every chapter. Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch, the four Maccabees, both Esdras, the Greek Esther and Daniel, the Prayer of Manasses and Psalm 151 are all browsable, in the World English Bible's own order of books.
These exist only in the World English Bible, so that page carries no translation picker. They are also a scope of their own in the global search, under their own heading, so "sirach" or "apocrypha" lists them without crowding out the sixty-six books that get cited every day. Only six of the fifteen are ever read by the Lectionary; the rest are there because they belong to the set.
Reading progress
The Bible reader now remembers how far through each book you have been. Every scripture row in the sidebar names the chapter you left off in, each book in the picker carries its own count, and Settings keeps a running total with a single Reset that clears both the counts and the places you stopped.
The Apocrypha counts toward that total, which moves the denominator to 1,402 chapters. A scripture row you have never opened still names the chapter it would take you to, so it never sits blank.

Shipped polish
- The sidebar and Settings drop their group headings in favour of a hairline between groups, and the active row is marked by colour alone now, without a background fill.
- The Changelog window's typography was retuned, and its header no longer repeats the version the release already shows.
- The Daily Office bar lines up with the other pages again.

Changelog, in the app
The app now carries its own changelog. After an update it opens a window with the release notes for the version that just landed, and when a newer desktop build is available the notes show up in the update banner before you install.
The Changelog button in the sidebar opens the same notes at any time. The notes are written once, before each release, and reused everywhere: they fill this window, the update banner, and the release page on GitHub, so nothing lives in two places.
Shipped polish
- The app icon renders sharply again in the browser and installed surfaces after the favicon set was regenerated from the master artwork.
- The sidebar's toolbar and footer buttons now sit at even heights, and the footer buttons' hover fill no longer crowds the strip edge to edge.

Settings, rebuilt
Settings now open in a two-pane window: a grouped rail on the left shows every section at a glance, with the section content on the right. On phones the same modal becomes a compact, icon-led drill-down list: tap a row to enter a section, use the back button to return.
The rail carries its own search box. Start typing and sections filter down in place; the matcher also knows the options inside each section, so searching "office" surfaces the section that holds rubrics, speakers, and devotions.
One search tray, everywhere
Ctrl+K (or Cmd+K) now opens the same search tray the scripture reference pages already use, from anywhere in the app. / still opens the current page's picker from the bars.
Keyboard scripture stepping
On desktop, arrow keys and the vim keys step between scripture passages, and the on-page hints show the shortcut labels right in the reading pane as you move.
Navigation polish
- The mobile drawer is now full-screen and drag-to-close, with a spring physics feel.
- The phone back button closes an open modal before leaving the page.
- Sidebar navigation rows lead with icons and group under small-caps category headings.
- The desktop window control buttons have wider hit targets on Linux and Windows.

Bible translation picker
Scripture can now be read in the King James Version as well as the World English Bible. Pick a translation from the bar on the bible page or from Settings; the choice applies app-wide and is remembered between sessions. WEB remains the default, and the deuterocanon always reads from WEB.
Bar and layout polish
- The translation picker sits on the left of the bar, with the chapter chip trailing, between the book picker and the navigation arrows.
- All bar chips share the same 24px height, and the chip gaps match the arrow spacing.
- The translation label uses the mono font and the accent red in the bar chip.
Fixes
- Dismissing the mobile history drawer no longer clears the open reading.
- Stray spaces before punctuation in WEB text are collapsed.

bcp v0.3.0
bcp 0.3.0 ships a direct bible chapter picker, gives Daily Devotions a proper home on the Today bar, and rounds out the calendar and lectionary.
Bible
- Direct chapter picker on the bible bar: pick any chapter of the current book in one step instead of stepping through with the arrows. The bar now shows the book title alone between the chapter chip and the arrows.
Offices
- Daily Devotions is promoted to the front-left mode switch on the Today bar, alongside the daily offices, instead of a tucked-away corner toggle.
Calendar
- "Saints" is renamed to "Holy Days": the section covers the fixed-date holy days of the Daily Office Lectionary, which include feasts of our Lord (the Presentation, the Annunciation, Holy Cross Day, All Saints' Day) as well as the saints' days.
- The active day cell now stands out against the sheet on both light and dark themes.
Lectionary
- The Prev/Next day arrows now match the square arrow buttons used across the Scripture sections.
- "Today" moved to the left of the arrows and turns red when the viewed day is today.

Fixed: Windows updates now actually work
On Windows, the desktop app could keep showing the previous version after reporting an update succeeded, and then claim the app was "already latest" on the next check. This happened because the shell serves the app over http://tauri.localhost, so the PWA service worker registered inside the embedded webview and its cache kept serving the old build.
This release:
- Skips the service worker in the desktop shell so the webview can only render the freshly installed bundle.
- Sweeps the webview profile once per release on first launch: clears cached origin data, unregisters any stale workers, and reloads, so already-affected machines self-heal on this update.
- Shows the running binary version in the sidebar and About screen instead of the bundled string, so the displayed version always matches what the updater compares.
macOS and Linux never had this issue (the shell there uses a non-HTTP scheme) but also pick up the binary-version display and the same one-time safety sweep.
More reliable releases
The release pipeline now verifies itself before shipping:
- Version sync check - package.json, Cargo.toml, tauri.conf.json, and the UI version constant must agree.
- Service worker guard check - the desktop shell stays out of the PWA worker on all platforms.
- Release artifact validation -
latest.json, every per-platform installer and its signature, and the rootless Linux tarball are checked against the tag before the release goes out.
Checksums
All installers ship with minisign signatures (.sig files) alongside their latest.json entries.
Note: the updates you see in-app (Linux rootless, and this fix) are part of ongoing automation; the Tauri updater validates signatures before installing.
