MCD2 Crossover 0.1.5 — Important battery-drain fix

Choose a tag to compare

@Wanzho Wanzho released this 08 Oct 20:56

Important bug fix — all users should update.

Fixes background activity left behind by app-launched game sessions and reduces idle sign-in polling.

  • When the game window has closed but its process remains, the app requests exit after a one-minute grace period. Minimized and hidden game windows are preserved.
  • When the app started Steam, it closes that Steam session after the game ends and stops the idle bottle. Steam already open before Play, other Windows applications and active downloads are preserved.
  • Saved Microsoft sign-in now waits for requests instead of checking five times every second. Accounts and silent renewal are kept.
  • Adds native Check for Updates… and Update Now. Future updates download, verify, replace and reopen the app without a manual installer. No Sparkle runtime or permanent updater service.

Download the DMG, replace the older app in Applications, and use Play in the app for session cleanup. Older versions without the update menu need this one manual upgrade. Direct Steam launches are not monitored. This does not reduce rendering load during gameplay or change controller settings.

Simplified the launcher home screen. The game folder and Browse Game Copy… now appear only in Change Game Copy… and initial setup. Play, the selected bottle and Xbox account stay on the home screen.

Includes the languages, account display and compact picker added in 0.1.2. Existing 0.1.2 setups remain compatible.

Download MCD2-Crossover-0.1.3-arm64.dmg, drag the app into Applications and replace the previous version. Run setup if prompted. Existing Microsoft sign-in is preserved.

Tested: 77 native UI checks covering the home screen, picker, Cancel, Done and Play. The signed app and DMG passed verification.

@Wanzho Wanzho released this 06 Oct 16:30

Added app languages, Xbox username display and a compact game-copy picker.

  • Added Signed in to: with the saved Xbox username.
  • Moved Change Game Copy… into a compact sheet over the home screen. Play stays on the home screen.
  • Corrected running-game detection so Dungeons 1 is distinguished from the selected Dungeons II copy. Added It isn’t open! for uncertain detections.
  • Translated the app and sign-in window into the 17 languages listed for Dungeons II on Steam, plus European Portuguese. Choose Language… in the app menu.

Download MCD2-Crossover-0.1.2-arm64.dmg, drag the app into Applications and replace the previous version. Run setup once when prompted. Existing Microsoft sign-in stays saved.

91 automated tests and native language, account-display, prompt-parser and selection checks passed. Minecraft Launcher remains experimental; these checks do not establish non-Steam gameplay support.

MCD2 Crossover 0.1.1

@Wanzho Wanzho released this 04 Oct 09:29

Added game-copy browsing and optional troubleshooting logs for Minecraft Dungeons II on Mac with CrossOver.

Changes

  • Added Browse Game Copy… for selecting an installed folder or game executable.
  • Added a Launcher: selector for Steam and experimental Minecraft Launcher copies.
  • Added one corner Troubleshooting… button with Start Recording, Stop Recording and Save Logs…. Setup and sign-in issues can be recorded with the game closed.
  • Updated the recording instruction to start with For in-game problems.

Logging is off by default, stops after an hour and never uploads anything. Exported ZIPs exclude credentials, account identifiers and game saves.

Install

Download MCD2-Crossover-0.1.1-arm64.dmg, drag the app into Applications and replace the previous version. Open it and run setup for the selected bottle. Existing Microsoft sign-in stays saved. No Terminal commands required.

Steam remains the supported route. Minecraft Launcher support is experimental and has not been tested with an owned non-Steam copy. It requires its own valid game license; a Steam purchase does not unlock the Launcher edition. This app does not install Minecraft Launcher or download the game.

Tested

57 automated checks passed. Packaged installation checks passed with disposable Steam and Launcher fixtures, and the updated native controls and wording were verified on screen. These checks did not modify a live CrossOver bottle or establish Launcher gameplay compatibility.

MCD2 Crossover 0.1.0

@Wanzho Wanzho released this 30 Sep 20:31

Startup and Xbox sign-in fixes for Minecraft Dungeons II on Apple Silicon Macs with CrossOver.

Changes

  • Repaired Steam startup and prerequisite checks.
  • Corrected network request framing and the Xbox sign-in route, addressing the causes of 0060, 0063, 0064 and 0020 confirmed during testing.
  • Fixed Visual C++ detection for registry casing and Wine builtin DLLs.
  • Added saved sign-in with background renewal and macOS Keychain storage.
  • Added Play, Sign Out, Close Window and Change Bottle to the home screen.

Install

Requires CrossOver, Windows Steam and an existing Steam copy of Minecraft Dungeons II.

  1. Download MCD2-Crossover-0.1.0-arm64.dmg below and drag the app into Applications.
  2. Open MCD2 Crossover, choose the Steam bottle, read the Microsoft license and click Set Up. Complete Microsoft's installer if it opens.
  3. Click Play and complete Microsoft sign-in. Leave the code window open until it closes automatically.

Setup restarts Steam and backs up replaced files. Saves and controller mods are preserved. No Terminal commands required.

After the first sign-in, launch directly from Steam; MCD2 Crossover does not need to stay open. Open the app to sign out, change bottles or retry sign-in. Changing bottles runs setup for the new bottle and keeps the saved Microsoft sign-in.

Troubleshooting

For startup prompts, repeated Visual C++ Repair, sign-in errors or a stuck game, see the troubleshooting guide.

Tested

Tested on an M5 Pro with CrossOver 26.3: launch into the game, setup in a second bottle, and direct Steam launch with MCD2 Crossover closed.

Limitations

Installing Visual C++ where it is missing, longer sessions, multiplayer and other Macs remain untested. Apple Silicon and the Steam version only. The app is not notarized.

Sign-in uses the game's own Microsoft app ID, not one registered for this tool. Microsoft could block that route, so use it at your own risk.
