ProcessForge 1.3.0-alpha1

This first alpha freezes the accepted development checkpoint after 1.2.0.
Public CLI/MCP contracts and file-only use are retained. Product, process,
schema and startup-contract versions remain independent.

The checkpoint includes the accepted Core separation, portable shared Python
QA and assurance requirements, native Codex hook setup during Forge
initialization, consistent CLI/MCP context checks across LF/CRLF text, and
the qualified Windows App Server launch and disconnected-client handling.
Update selection now orders prereleases and final releases correctly;
build metadata does not create a newer update, and resource constraints keep
their existing rules.

The alpha is published separately from stable 1.2.0. Further Core refactoring,
complete Core typing and systematic unit coverage remain future work.
Release publication does not update an existing device or reload its Runtime/MCP.

Use the existing installation guide and
Core update contract for an explicitly
planned installation. Preserve existing project state and update backups.

ProcessForge 1.3.0-alpha1

Codex

Core,
Runtime/MCP.

Core.

ProcessForge 1.2.0

@sergeytolkachyov sergeytolkachyov released this 18 Oct 14:10

ProcessForge 1.2.0 makes everyday project work more responsive and easier to follow.

  • Clearer installation and workflow guides, with Python dependencies, storage and memory planning in one place.
  • More consistent instructions and diagrams for people and AI agents, including how to continue existing work safely.
  • More reliable background status and recovery when work is interrupted or a worker needs attention.
  • Project scratch stays in .pf/tmp/; configurable reminders help you review old files. PF does not delete them automatically.

Before upgrading, back up your workplace and project state and follow the
upgrade guide.
Existing legacy journals need the separate migration described there; installing Core does not migrate or delete them.

MCP: pf.context, pf.search, pf.resolve, pf.work.start, pf.work.state, pf.work.transition.

Runtime ProcessForge.

English

SQLite FTS5 local search has been added.
ProcessForge can now index connected knowledge and resources and expose them through pf.search. Prepared documentation can be full-text indexed, while large source trees may use metadata-only indexing. pf.resolve then provides the canonical local root where the agent can use normal file and source search tools.

A ProcessForge MCP server has been added.
Core PF operations are now available directly to agents through MCP: pf.context, pf.search, pf.resolve, pf.work.start, pf.work.state, and pf.work.transition. Agents no longer need to manually inspect .pf internals or rely on the CLI for normal governed work. The MCP server is launched by the agent host as a stdio process.

Garage mode has been introduced.
Single-agent work no longer requires Runtime, Agent Ledger, or hooks. Project context, resource search, and process execution can operate directly from .pf and the current project snapshot. This makes ProcessForge much lighter for everyday use.

A long-running ProcessForge Runtime has been added.
More advanced installations can use one background Runtime per Workplace for events, Ledger maintenance, background operations, and future multi-agent coordination. On Windows it can be installed for automatic startup with the system. Garage mode remains independent from Runtime.

Processes are now executable declarative contracts.
ProcessForge tracks the current stage, validates required artifacts and evidence, and performs transitions through pf.work.transition. Agents no longer need to manually maintain low-level Run/Task lifecycle state or guess stage identifiers. Completing the final stage also completes the Run and produces its summary and handoff.

Projects can now allow multiple processes.
A project may support development, architecture analysis, testing, and other workflows while activating only one process for the current Work. This keeps the active context narrow instead of loading every available process into the session. Handoffs also allow a fresh session to continue from the previous completed process.

Project resource resolution and indexing have been tightened.
Snapshots now select project-relevant platform and knowledge versions more precisely instead of exposing the entire Workplace catalog. Resources can use fulltext, metadata, or none indexing modes, with stricter version matching and project isolation.

Core updates and release qualification are safer.
Core updates are manifest-driven and protect locally modified files from silent replacement. The release pipeline now validates Git provenance, checksums, public archive cleanliness, deterministic packaging, and the complete extracted ZIP rather than testing only the source tree.

@sergeytolkachyov sergeytolkachyov released this 05 Aug 05:17
647c650

ProcessForge 1.0.2 is a compatibility and documentation release focused on making updates easier to configure and safer to validate.

What changed:

  • Update servers now use a simpler contract: a manifest link and a changelog link.
  • Update manifests can also be local files, which is useful for offline, staged, or private installations.
  • The update documentation now explains how to update both the installed ProcessForge core and existing project .pf folders.
  • Runtime-driver documentation now matches the current shell-agent launch flow, including model selection and reasoning level selection by the orchestrator.
  • Validators and smoke tests were aligned with the simplified update model.

Upgrade notes:

  • No project .pf migration is required for 1.0.2.
  • For an installed core, unpack the new release into a new versioned ProcessForge directory, verify it, then point your launcher or workspace config to the new core.
  • For existing projects, run the usual upgrade check, context refresh, context check, and project doctor from the new core.

Validation:

  • Public release test passed.
  • Schema validation, checksum validation, public cleanliness checks, update smokes, release-check, and archive verification passed.

  • Added validation/smoke coverage for workspace access, codex-exec launch arguments, public path cleanliness, and release packaging.
  • Updated update metadata, checksums, changelog, and package manifest for 1.0.1.

Verification:

  • python bin/pf.py release-test --root . --public: PASS
  • dist/processforge.zip: 809 files, SHA256 99b5821121550838e3b8d923cdedd6edff4e80bef7055a1cab2b1adc1f6ce3b4

ProcessForge 1.0.0

Choose a tag to compare

@sergeytolkachyov sergeytolkachyov released this 31 Jul 16:17

ProcessForge 1.0.0 is the first stable public release of the framework for building formal AI-driven processes independent of a specific agent platform, runtime, or AI provider.

This release packages the core CLI, built-in process definitions, schemas, templates, documentation, and release metadata needed to initialize and operate ProcessForge in agent workspaces. The framework focuses on repeatable process execution: formal stages, explicit artifacts, verifiable handoffs, versioned knowledge, and update paths from declared sources.

Highlights:

  • Formal process construction for AI workflows, including project initialization, development flow, resource authoring, updates, remediation, and release-oriented checks.
  • Platform-neutral kernel: domain and platform behavior is supplied through manifests, knowledge packages, platform contracts, templates, and policies instead of provider-specific hardcoding.
  • Two operating modes: a lightweight 1-1-1-1 garage mode for direct work, and a forge/factory mode for coordinated multi-agent or role-based execution.
  • Cascading project context resolution with workplace, project, package, template, and local override layers.
  • Release-grade distribution metadata: checksums, public cleanliness validation, archive manifest, and reproducible package inspection.
  • Bilingual documentation and quickstart materials for English and Russian users.

Attached assets:

  • processforge.zip - portable ProcessForge distribution archive.
  • processforge.manifest.json - release manifest with archive metadata, file hashes, source commit, and provenance information.
