🥊 UFC 5 is officially released and keeps getting fixes over time. See UFC 5 — what to expect below.
What's new in 3.2.1
- UFC 1–4: fewer hitches. The automatic setup now turns frame statistics off: their log line every 5 seconds lined
up with 80–190 ms hitches in UFC 1 frame logs. - UFC 5: Large pages from PORTHEON fixed. Switching Large pages on in PORTHEON only saved the setting; the Windows
"Lock pages in memory" right was only requested from UFC5.exe's own window. PORTHEON now asks for administrator rights
right away, and UFC5.exe asks at PLAY when the right is missing (launcher v1.11.1). It stays off by default: on the
reference PC it gave no clear gain (22–25 FPS in fights either way).
What's new in 3.2
Online with Parsec — UFC 1–4
A new Parsec mode (online host) switch in GAMEPLAY: host the game, your friend connects through Parsec and their
controller becomes Player 2. It turns on low input latency (one frame queued), a fixed 60 FPS and Mailbox
presentation; switching it off brings your old settings back. Step-by-step guide for host and friend, with Parsec's
lowest-latency settings, in the README. (UFC 5 has no Player 2 yet: the emulator has one local user.)
UFC 5 — automatic recovery from video driver crashes
Players on AMD Radeon cards (RX 6500 XT, RX 6600) saw the game close right at start with error
3221225477 (0xC0000005) inside the AMD shader compiler, and a laptop Quadro T2000 lost the GPU mid-session.
Now, when the log shows a driver crash, the next PLAY tries a video compatibility mode by itself, one level at a
time:
- shaders without the SPIR-V optimizer (AMD cards start here);
- no float controls in the shaders;
- integer image atomics skipped;
- video memory budget at 70% of the card.
The level is saved (gpu_compat in UFC5.ini) and written to the log. Please also update your GPU driver
(AMD Adrenalin / NVIDIA / Intel). UFC 5 launcher: v1.11.0.
UFC 1–4 — a clear message on unsupported CPUs
The PS4 game code runs directly on your CPU and uses BMI1, MOVBE, LZCNT and AVX. On CPUs without them
(Intel Core 3rd generation and older, older AMD FX) the game used to just close with "code 1". PORTHEON now tells
you at PLAY why it cannot run and what CPU it needs (Intel Core 4th gen / Haswell or newer, or AMD Ryzen).
UFC 2–4 — stretched face and mouth fixed
The community patch "Skinning Method 0 (Force CPU)" (by Lepexa) is now turned on automatically at every PLAY: the
fighters' meshes are skinned on the CPU, which ends the stretched face/mouth glitch. It stays off together with the
60+ FPS patch, which already does the same. face_fix=0 in portheon.ini turns it off.
UFC 1 — NVIDIA "code 3"
The new reports of the UFC 1 fight crash on NVIDIA cards came from PORTHEON 2.7. The fix has shipped since 3.0:
update to 3.2.
Game status
| Game | Status |
|---|---|
| UFC 1 | Playable (test). Menus 60 FPS, fights at the game's own 30. Online via Parsec. |
| UFC 2 | Playable (test), 60 FPS. Online via Parsec. |
| UFC 3 | The most complete: up to 120/144 FPS, several controllers, Parsec, experimental Internet play. |
| UFC 4 | Playable, 60 FPS, several controllers, ReShade, Parsec. |
| Career | Playable in UFC 2, 3 and 4 (in UFC 4 the image can look too contrasted and some blood can be missing). Problems in any UFC career: send the newest log from Logs. |
| UFC 5 | Released (PS5 emulator): 20–30 FPS in fights on a Ryzen 5 5500 + RTX 4060, menus at 60. |
UFC 5 — what to expect
- Officially released, and it keeps getting fixes over time.
- Not a native port yet: it runs through a bundled PS5 emulator (KytyPS5).
- The CPU is the limit, not the GPU; below 30 FPS the game runs in slow motion.
- The first fights stutter while shaders are built and cached.
- AMD and Intel GPUs are still barely tested: if it closes, play again (the compatibility mode kicks in) and send the
newest log from Logs.
Next up: UFC 6
With UFC 5 out, the next project is UFC 6.
