Script Extender #1055
|
I'm kind of surprised no one has asked this before, or at least I didn't see any discussions about it. Is it mainly because of a desire for this mod to stand on it's own, without any requirements at all? Or is it to allow full compatibility with console players? |

Exactly that — it's for console players. Script Extender is a PC-only native DLL; it can't be shipped through the in-game mod manager, so any mod that depends on it is simply unavailable on Xbox and PS5. This mod is meant to be a full 5.5e ruleset conversion that anyone can play, and locking out every console player would defeat that purpose. You're right that it costs us some accuracy. There are a handful of things that are genuinely impossible to do RAW without SE, and in those cases I approximate with the closest vanilla-engine mechanic and document the difference rather than reach for SE. So it's a deliberate trade-off: slightly looser RAW in a few corners, in exchange for the mod running on every platform with no external requirements at all. |
