A preview update of Free Riders Recompiled, an unofficial port of the Xbox 360 version of Sonic Free Riders.

Important

No game data is included. You need your own Sonic Free Riders (USA, Europe) disc image (.iso); the launcher installs the game's data from it. This is still a pre-release.

Changes since 0.1.1

  • Finishing a race no longer ends the game. With a save in use the player is signed in, so a race awards an achievement, and that request was not handled: the game stopped as the results menu opened. Achievements are now accepted (and listed in game.log; there is no Xbox Live to award them to).
  • Grand Prix loading was tested another twelve times with no failure.

Unpack into a folder of its own, start FreeRidersRecompiled, choose your disc image, then Start game. The Android APK installs over 0.1.0/0.1.1 and keeps the installed game and saves.

Known limits

  • Only the USA/Europe disc is supported.
  • Loading can still fail now and then (roughly one load in four of the Grand Prix's second part before 0.1.1, and rarely at a race start): a loading thread can take a job the game has not finished preparing. If it happens, start the game again; a proper fix is being worked on.
  • Grand Prix has been played through Tails's Ring Grab Challenge; later chapters are untested.
  • The heaviest race scenes can drop to about 53 fps, so game time runs slightly slow there.
  • Android has been tried in the emulator and on one Adreno 750 handheld; please report problems with your device's model.
