Course stability and handheld improvements
This preview fixes several course and loading failures found during Windows and AYN Thor testing, with additional handheld runtime improvements.
- Low-FPS course movement: corrected the Frozen Forest waterway, Final Factory Expert blue tube, Metropolis Speedway Expert uphill path, and shared launch state in Forgotten Tomb. These fixes keep scripted movement consistent with elapsed game time.
- Stability: protected actors from deletion while background jobs still use them, corrected concurrent memory-page flag updates, and safely reused completed guest-thread storage during longer sessions. Prevented a zero heading from corrupting rider rotation and audio.
- Controls: improved controller steering range and reversal response; corrected right-stick side-reach detection. Camera and Kinect keep their motion-input smoothing.
- Rendering: fixed Android rotation/swapchain recovery, RGBA4 textures and packed mip origins. Race UI timelines now follow elapsed time at lower frame rates.
- Runtime and diagnostics: reduced scheduling, vertex-layout, texture-conversion and allocation-search overhead; batched texture uploads; added Export diagnostic ZIP to Android's Game files page.

Both APKs use version 0.4.6, version code 16, and the existing signing certificate, so they can update the previous app. Linux and Android releases omit webcam pose inference. Keep each desktop package's executable, ABI-10 shader pack and pipeline manifests together.
No game data or personal saves are included. You need your own USA/Europe Sonic Free Riders disc image.
Validation and remaining limits
-
Local suites: 141 Windows C++ tests, 133 Linux C++ tests, and 268 Python tests (11 skipped) passed.
-
Both affected Expert courses passed Windows functional checks at normalized steps 1, 2 and 3. Thor completed Final Factory Expert and Metropolis Speedway Expert with normal elapsed-time simulation; the observed tube stall and repeated uphill falls did not recur.
-
Earlier tests covered other Standard/Expert courses and repeated races, but coverage is not exhaustive across riders, branches or devices. Fixed-step checks are functional tests, not performance benchmarks.
-
The full Grand Prix campaign and every symptom in #31 are not yet verified. Reporter-specific crashes, bright widescreen corners and physical controller feel still need confirmation. Ally X was offline for the latest validation. Intro delay and device-dependent performance limitations may remain.
-
Both APKs passed version, signature, asset and 16 KB alignment checks. The Android 10+ release APK was installed on Thor; its native libraries, assets and Java bytecode exactly match the device-tested candidate. Android 9 compatibility is build-checked, without an Android 9 device test.
-
The extracted Linux package passed Vulkan startup under WSL; this is not native Linux gameplay/performance certification.
-
Webcam/VRM functionality remains available, but this release did not receive a new full Camera/Kinect/VRM gameplay pass.
-
The extracted Windows release completed Frozen Forest Standard through the Replay screen on both Vulkan and D3D12, using separate clean caches and test saves.
-
Windows, Linux, Android and macOS CI checks passed for the release source.
