FileLink is a prototype system for discovering and managing ESP32-based devices from a Windows WPF application. The Windows client finds devices through mDNS; the ESP32 firmware provides an HTTP interface over a local Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection.
- Read Setup before preparing a device or workstation.
- Read Operating a Device for discovery, connection, SD-card, settings, and RS232 workflows.
- Read Security Boundaries before placing the device on a network.
| Area | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Device discovery | CONFIRMED | mDNS service _filelink._tcp.local.
|
| Ethernet/Wi-Fi networking | CONFIRMED | Ethernet-first boot; Wi-Fi/provisioning fallback. |
| SD storage and transfers | CONFIRMED | Streaming transfers with CRC32 checks. could use throughput improvements. |
| RS232 transport | CONFIRMED | Raw UART configuration/read/write through HTTP. |
| OTA mechanics | CONFIRMED | Inactive OTA partition write, validation, boot selection, reboot. |
| Multi-slot Wi-Fi selection | PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED | Up to five slots can be stored; boot/fallback uses primary slot 0. |
| OLED and button UI | PARTIALLY IMPLEMENTED | Hardware setup only; no rendered/local UI is established. |
| Physical HP 7550A compatibility | UNCONFIRMED | Software package exists; physical test result was not supplied. |
- HTTP is plain HTTP, not HTTPS.
- Provisioning starts an open access point.
- Device passwords are not a visible global authorization layer for ordinary APIs.
- No project-owned automated test results or physical validation records were supplied.
