ZFileConverter 2.3.2
ZFileConverter 2.3.2
Settings workflow, updater integrity, and security update release.
What's new
Settings workflow
- A normal application launch now continues from the Explorer tutorial into Settings instead of exiting after onboarding.
- Save persists and applies changes without closing the Settings window.
- Settings view models are window-scoped, so closing unsaved changes and reopening cannot reuse stale state.
- The Explorer context menu reloads preset references when the settings file changes, while preserving the last known-good menu during a save.
Reliability and security
- Downloaded updater installers are verified against their published adjacent SHA-256 files before execution, and the successful-download lifecycle was repaired so the installer remains available at shutdown.
- Magick.NET-Q16-AnyCPU updated to 14.15.0, resolving the advisory set affecting 14.14.0 in the MNG, 8BIM, and MVG decoders.
- Removed the unused animated-GIF dependency left behind by the retired onboarding animation.
- Replaced stale repository and upstream wiki links with maintained ZFileConverter documentation.
Maintenance
- Added an authoritative project guide (
AGENTS.md), a reusable Hermes audit brief, and a local preset reference (docs/preset-reference.md).

ZFileConverter 2.3.1
Installer and Explorer branding hotfix
ZFileConverter 2.3.1 corrects the two Windows-native branding issues found after the 2.3.0 release.
Fixed
- Fixed the corrupted rainbow-noise icon in the Windows Explorer context menu.
- Rebuilt all small ICO frames as DIB/BMP-backed Windows icon data so the shell extension's
System.Drawing.Icondecoder renders them correctly. - Replaced the legacy File Converter installer sidebar and banner with the new ZFileConverter midnight, cobalt, and coral identity.
- Kept application, shell-extension, installer, and repository assets reproducible through the shared brand generator.
Verified on Windows
- Installed the 2.3.1 MSI as an in-place upgrade from 2.3.0 with restart suppression.
- Restarted Explorer and visually confirmed the actual ZFileConverter context-menu icon and submenu.
- Visually inspected the real MSI Welcome and License pages.
- Confirmed the installed application and shell extension report version
2.3.1.0. - Built the exact published installer through the repository's Windows Release workflow.
