Dialect 1.2.0
Dialect 1.2.0
Localization
Dialect is now translated into seven more languages.
- French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Greek translations throughout the app.
- The T9 matching engine itself understands Cyrillic and Greek names, not just Latin ones — a Russian or Greek contact's name matches correctly regardless of your phone's language.
- On a Russian- or Greek-language phone, the dialpad's own key labels show the right alphabet (2 АБВГ, 2 ΑΒΓ, etc.) instead of English letters.
Quick Actions
Hold a number to call someone, message someone, or launch an app instantly.
- Long-press any unassigned digit to set it up: call a contact, message a contact, or open an app.
- Once assigned, holding that digit again performs the action right away — no typing required.
- Manage your shortcuts from Settings → Quick Actions, where you can reassign or remove any of them at any time.
Also in this release
- Dialect is now MIT licensed.
- The empty-buffer "recent apps" list now ranks by how recently you used an app, not how many times — something you opened yesterday now outranks something you use often but haven't touched in weeks.
- The default call/message service picker in Settings is hidden when you only have one service installed, since there's nothing to choose between.
Dialect 1.1.0
Contact dialing
Search contacts by name alongside apps, and call or message them without leaving the dialpad.
- Type a contact's name to call them, same as searching for an app.
- Type 60 then a name to message them instead.
- Pick which app handles it: Phone, WhatsApp, Telegram, or SMS, whichever you have installed.
- Set a default service for calls and one for messages, or "ask every time".
- Long-press a contact to set their own default, or to always ask for them specifically, overriding the global default.
Dialect 1.0.0
