Capture Kit is ready for everyone, not just its author.

What's new since 0.3.0

  • Choose which sites can trigger a capture. Settings → Automation now offers Off, Allowed sites or Any page. In Allowed sites mode, localhost and 127.0.0.1 are pre-filled, so an agent driving your dev server works without opening every site. If you had the old switch on, you're moved to Any page, which is what that switch did.
  • Tighter slices. Empty side margins are trimmed off tall-page slices, so the text an assistant sees is bigger. The report says which columns each slice shows.
  • A quieter Downloads bar. On the Downloads path, Chrome's download bubble stays hidden while a tall page's slices are saved.
  • Getting-started page. It opens once on install and shows your actual shortcuts and the two settings that matter for AI agents.
  • New docs: a rewritten README, a privacy policy (PRIVACY.md), every permission explained (PERMISSIONS.md), and an MIT license.

Install

  1. Unzip capture-kit-v0.4.0.zip.
  2. Open chrome://extensions and turn on Developer mode.
  3. Click "Load unpacked" and pick the unzipped folder. If an older version is loaded, remove it first or reload it from the new folder.

The new downloads.ui permission adds no new warning. Chrome shows the same "Manage your downloads" line as before.

Known limits

  • A page or agent can only start a clip in a tab after someone has pressed the shortcut or clicked the icon in that tab. This is a Chrome rule.

Built from main 3680641 (PR #20, CI verify run 117513709359 on its final commit). 188 unit tests passed.
