Wisp 1.4.0
Download Wisp 1.4.0 for Apple Silicon
Wisp can learn tentative routines from permitted history and use them to suggest time in Today.
- Weekly trend reports distinguish scheduled activities from completed behavior and show incomplete coverage as unknown.
- Bounded history from Calendar, completed reminders, Mail, Messages and Notes can seed learning. Gmail history is optional, per account, and needs an explicit Start after restarting Wisp. New Gmail connections require a Google OAuth Desktop client with the Gmail API enabled. History supplies context; it does not train model weights.
- Optional app use, screen and away observations, and website context support personal patterns. Website visits do not measure dwell time; past uncollected activity and Focus/DND remain unknown.
- Today respects authored tasks, pins and calendar constraints. Inferred work stays tentative and cited, and cannot authorize messages or native calendar changes.
- Learning controls require backend confirmation, reject delayed enables after Off, and support Forget while preserving work you edited.
- Models settings are simpler. Setup distinguishes readiness from a validated reply, and model-load memory refusals produce a clear error while preserving the guard.
Requirements and beta limits: Apple Silicon; Wisp needs macOS 14 or newer, and its bundled engine needs macOS 26.2 or newer. This download is ad-hoc signed and is not notarized. Models are separate; the selected Mellum default currently requires local provisioning. Existing model overrides are preserved.
A memory-limited bundled cold load was refused during testing; planning passed using an already-loaded Mellum model. Live Gmail retrieval passed before later provider quota/403 errors, so current freshness depends on provider availability. The isolated full-app test verified a safe refusal; full native-source retrieval was not verified. The hosted build's engine import smoke is skipped when its OS is below the engine's minimum.

Wisp 1.3.3 (build 1673)
Source: f5ae7709bf0c9c7044c62d7129fe130eb8c5ffe1
Apple Silicon, macOS 14.0 or newer. Includes a built-in AI engine (macOS 26.2 or newer for the engine); models are downloaded separately.
The engine's import smoke test was not run on the build host (host macOS 15.7.9 is older than the engine's minimum 26.2); the engine files are verified against the pinned oMLX release instead.
Changes since v1.3.2:
- Wisp 1.3.3: version, changelog and dependency locks (e2bbc2d)
- Changelog: proactive attention reminder fixes (#198, #218, #220) under Unreleased (e729aa8)
- Planner: only an executed lookup lifts a forced re-plan's restriction (b3dc0b7)
- Planner: hold a forced re-plan's restriction as turn state (813fac0)
- Planner: a restricted re-plan offers only its tools; narration never executes calls (4aba7af)
- Planner: forced re-plans carry reads only; explicit repeatable-write list (c70d2d8)
- CI builds stage the pinned engine: --fetch-engine downloads the digest-pinned oMLX 0.7.0 release; import smoke is recorded as skipped on hosts below the engine minimum (780d4eb)
- Attention: a remembered zone must match the Mac clock's rules for a whole year, not just today (fc25420)
- Planner: only a self-guarded write may ride a forced re-plan (a05e68a)
- Planner: repair the four #221 review findings (7ba4208)
- Planner: give the look-wider re-plan its own once-per-turn budget (f58d8ac)
- Planner: cap identical volatile reads at two per turn (0599dc0)
- Planner: drop any re-issued identical write; no forced lookup for writing requests (b2c598b)
- Version 1.3.3 carries the engine (1.3.2 is already published); fixes from the final release audit (licence gate, launch race, hung engine, proxy-safe admin calls, omlx_web tree audit) (b656c09)
- Attention: remember the last zone macOS named, and use it while the Mac clock agrees (8cb14be)
- Planner: act before answering, look wider before giving up (3e89178)
- Pin the bundled engine to oMLX 0.7.0 (macOS 26.2 floor); ship upstream LICENSE; accept the 0.7.0 admin-UI layout (0fac585)
- Attention: never guess the time zone; an unknown zone stops the pass instead of reading times as UTC (eccdea2)
- Tests: lifespan fixtures define is_bundled; socket-needing engine tests report skipped when the QA sandbox refuses loopback binds (c53f976)
- Bundled engine: follow-ups from the repair audit (launch lock, keep a healthy engine, loading is listening, verified flag for plain HTTP, reap only orphans, licence gate bypasses) (4048d06)
- Bundled engine: fix release-audit findings (no key before identity, reap leftover engine, checked embed/rerank transport, licence gate hardening) (31c05d4)
- Make the concurrent tick test retry a volume_busy refusal like a scheduler (db2f806)
- Write test scratch to tmp_path, not the repository (55d8783)
- Planner: read_file's empty notice must be the whole result (30cf567)
- Planner: a miss is a tool's own empty notice, never a guess about content (b080e6b)
- Planner: count a read as a miss only on signals Wisp itself emits (debf723)
- Classify the new test in the Simulation QA full profile (4af1085)
- Classify the new test in the Simulation QA full profile (a1800bc)
- Planner: only short notices count as empty; memory-card phrases are not memory (da29dd0)
- Planner: generic deletion opens forget only with memory as its direct object (3c5a555)
- Planner: repair the third independent review's findings (a3bfb72)
- Engine licence gate: review every kept package, write third-party notices and licence copies into the bundle (d9a8246)
- Settings QA: render the Engine section and check it through the fixture app (fbd6b55)
- Planner: repair the second independent review's findings (4ffd83f)
- Planner: repair the four findings from the independent review (bad2b9a)
- Planner menu: a request addressed to someone gets the messaging family (1e91521)
- Test guard: allow reading the packaged engine's ENGINE.json beside the backend (b2f7b85)
- Stop two test modules from loading skills into the shared registry at import (f7fbf3f)
- scripts/eval_planner.py: the harness behind the planner numbers in #211 (1824699)
- Memory extraction and pattern-summary eval set with a faithfulness scorer (e79542e)
- Engine API, sticky first-launch default and packaged-engine fixes (c931cc4)
- Engine smoke: xgrammar needs torch and oMLX guards it; do not import it (83407ae)
- Engine smoke must use PYTHONPATH like the manager does (no -I) (2c253ab)
- Engine release tooling, pipeline tests and settings section (364cac1)
- Allow the engine's dead absolute rpaths to be removed; record verified licences (b0bd5d1)

- Planner: drop calls that already ran; re-plan once on self-contradiction (211d1ac)
- Planner: not_found only after something was searched (5a90635)
- Attribute the bundled engine: pid-pinned BundledOmlx authority (b2f5f6d)

Wisp 1.3.2
Download: 01-Wisp-1.3.2-1558-arm64.zip
Wisp 1.3.2 makes routine learning visible and actually useful, trims Wisp to 100 tools, and fixes several turns that failed for no good reason.
- See what Wisp has learned. A new window lists every routine Wisp has picked up from your calendar, messages and Wisp use, with the counts behind each one and what it expects today. Mark a routine "That's right" or "Not true"; a rejected routine stops shaping predictions, nudges and answers, and can be restored. Open it from Settings → Privacy & Access → See what Wisp learned, or from the Chat sidebar.
- Routine learning that works on real calendars. Wisp now reads Messages timestamps correctly (every message used to be dropped), skips automated senders, and needs 3 occurrences in 3 separate weeks to call something a routine, counting a recurring event from when it started. The morning preview can also mention the times you usually turn to Wisp.
- 100 tools instead of 182. Related tools were merged (weather, timers and alarms, system status, settings toggles, music, audio, email triage), so the same requests still work. Retired: directions, currency conversion, app uninstall, sending files by AirDrop, unsubscribe, raw HTTP requests and brightness control; currency, definition and recipe questions go to web search.
- Fewer failed turns. Approved Calendar, Reminders and send actions no longer fail while the app is reconnecting. A failed or denied write no longer shows "The assistant didn't respond." Web lookups no longer ask oMLX for a model that isn't installed, which caused 409 errors. Smart Search no longer says "not found" when the model's answer was right but uncited.
- Faster, safer engine checks. Wisp reuses a verified check of the local oMLX engine for up to 60 seconds instead of re-proving it on every request, and still re-checks the engine process before every request and write.
- Model-led routing (experimental, still off). With
WISP_MODEL_LED_ROUTING=1, the model now gets full details for the 12 most relevant tools and loads others on demand.
The download is for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or newer and requires a separately installed oMLX server and models. The app is ad-hoc signed, so macOS may ask you to grant Calendar, Reminders and Full Disk access again. Full details are in the changelog.
Wisp 1.3.1
Download: 01-Wisp-1.3.1-1462-arm64.zip
Wisp 1.3.1 turns routine learning on for everyone, adds a simpler remote mode, and retires the hackathon-only builds.
- Learns your routines by default. Behavior learning is now on out of the box. Settings has a Learn my routines switch to turn it off, and Forget what Wisp learned… to erase everything it has learned. Ask "What have you learned about me?", "What will tomorrow look like?" or "When do I usually work out?". "What do you know about me?" still answers from the facts you asked Wisp to remember.
- Simpler remote inference (advanced). Point Wisp at your own OpenAI-compatible server and launch it with
WISP_REMOTE_ONLY=1. Your data and tools stay on the Mac, it can read and write with the usual approvals, and View Only still makes it read-only. Setup is indocs/REMOTE_INFERENCE.md. - Model-led routing (experimental, off by default). With
WISP_MODEL_LED_ROUTING=1, the local model picks tools itself instead of the rules router. It stays off because the current Ling model doesn't follow its tool-loading step reliably yet. Sends still always ask first. - Safer web requests. Wisp no longer follows a redirect when it sends data to a website, so your data can't be passed on to a site you didn't approve.
- Removed. The GX10 and Intel Mac builds, the founder, Aria and Catch demo modes, and the demo data tools.
- For developers. Pull-request CI runs a preview build and Simulation QA side by side, and Simulation QA can run test files in parallel.
The download is for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or newer and requires a separately installed oMLX server and models. The app is ad-hoc signed, so macOS may ask you to grant Calendar, Reminders and Full Disk access again.
Wisp 1.3.0
Download: 01-Wisp-1.3.0-1423-arm64.zip
Wisp 1.3.0 is a real Mac app with its own Chat window, and it starts noticing commitments in your messages.
- A regular Mac app. Wisp now has a Dock icon, opens to its Chat window at launch, and has standard menus: Settings (⌘,), a Window menu with Wisp Chat (⌘1), and ⌘Q. Closing the window keeps Wisp running in the menu bar and notch.
- Wisp Chat. A resizable window for long conversations, with a searchable sidebar of saved chats, the tools Wisp used above each answer, confirmation cards in the thread, and a details panel (⌘I) with the route, model and speed. The thread no longer pulls you back to the bottom while you scroll up to read.
- Notices what you agreed to. Wisp watches incoming messages for plans that aren't on your calendar ("Can we do Thursday at 3?"). It starts in a record-only mode that changes nothing. If you turn live mode on, it creates a verified Apple Reminder for each one, at most 3 a day and never overnight. It only acts when your safety settings allow writes, View Only blocks it, and Undo removes only what Wisp created. Quoted message text is cleared after 7 days.
- Behavior engine details. It asks before changing a learned pattern, and its write actions are refused in read-only remote builds.
- For developers.
./scripts/wisp-build previewmakes an installable preview build in minutes, andwisp-build all --allow-dirtyno longer fails its own final check on a clean checkout.
Everything from 1.2.5 is included: the behavior engine, Workflow20 tools and the remote-inference mode.
The download is for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or newer and requires a separately installed oMLX server and models. The app is ad-hoc signed, so macOS may ask you to grant Calendar, Reminders and Full Disk access again.
Wisp 1.2.5
Download: 01-Wisp-1.2.5-1348-arm64.zip
Wisp 1.2.5 brings in the hackathon work: Wisp can now learn your routines, predict your day and act first, with Undo.
- Learns your routines (behavior engine). Wisp learns habits from your calendar, reminders, message timing and what you ask it, predicts your day, and sends a few nudges (at most 4 a day, never 10 PM–7 AM). Patterns come from plain statistics with evidence counts ("seen 21 of 24 times"); the model only phrases them. Ask "What do you know about me?", "What will tomorrow look like?" or "Which meetings do I usually cancel?". Off by default: launch with
WISP_BEHAVIOR=1. - Acts first, with Undo. When a meeting lands on your workout or you're likely to skip the last of a long run of meetings, Wisp adds a reminder or a "Tentative:" hold on its own schedule (never Apple Calendar or Reminders), with one-click Undo. Messages and meeting changes are only drafted for you to send.
- Grounded workflows. Workflow20 multi-source workflows with guarded actions, a personal knowledge index, calendar planning, file organization and grocery lists.
- Remote inference (advanced). An opt-in mode can send model requests to an OpenAI-compatible server you configure, while your data and tools stay on the Mac. It is off unless you launch Wisp with it enabled.
- Also: the iPhone app foundation.
- Safer. Sends still ask every time and can never be pre-approved; remote mode only turns on with an explicit launch flag.
The download is for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or newer and requires a separately installed oMLX server and models. The app is ad-hoc signed, so macOS may ask you to grant Calendar, Reminders and Full Disk access again.
The release performance benchmark is no longer a publication gate as of this release. Checksums, provenance, dependency inventories and QA evidence are retained as build artifacts.
Wisp 1.2.0
Download Wisp for Mac (Apple silicon)
Wisp 1.2.0 (build 1221)
Wisp 1.2.0 is faster, safer and better at picking the right tool.
- Faster local inference. Checking that the local engine is the qualified oMLX server does the same checks in less time, and a turn asks the engine which model is resident once instead of before every step. A simple greeting makes two engine calls instead of three.
- Better tool routing. Routing was measured against a 361-prompt corpus and fixed where it failed (64% to 82%): fewer send or delete tools offered when you did not ask for them, "sure" no longer reaches the model with no tools, "any new emails?" reads your mail instead of searching the web, and common typos route correctly without ever rewriting a recipient or file name.
- Local apps can use tools. Ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp and MTPLX can drive Agent and Coding work after Wisp verifies their context window and tool calling, with a Test Tool Calling check in Settings.
- Plan tomorrow in Wisp Today. Study slots and agendas respect the selected day. A preparation reminder needs a dated confirmation and is reported as created only after a verified success receipt.
- Find the right note and reminder. Topic lookups require the words you used and say how fresh the data is; undated Apple reminders are listed; long-overdue Wisp-only records stop looking current.
- Readable inbox and summaries. The inbox digest is sorted by what needs attention; mail from people is separated from newsletters; mail history reads from Mail's local index.
- Easier notch. The top edge of the screen and most of the notch open the menu.
- Troubleshoot locally. Review a problem report with request stages and timing. Detailed content is optional, previewed, and redacted on a best-effort basis; nothing is uploaded automatically.
- Safer by default. Pasted API keys in Agent chats are redacted, approvals are strict and bound to the request that asked, launch never terminates programs Wisp does not own, protected paths cover every path argument, and "Always allow" can no longer lift tools that must confirm every time.
The download is for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or newer. Wisp requires a separately installed oMLX server and models. The app is ad-hoc signed, so macOS may ask you to grant Calendar, Reminders and Full Disk access again.
The release performance benchmark could not yet produce a passing receipt, so this release is published under a documented, version-limited waiver; the measured comparison with 1.1.5 is below. Checksums, provenance, dependency inventories and QA evidence are retained as build artifacts.
Measured: Wisp 1.2.0 vs 1.1.5 (same Mac, same resident model, alternating turns)
A 40-turn end-to-end comparison ran two isolated backends side by side against the same local engine (Ling-3.0-tiny-oQ6e, Apple M5 Pro), alternating which side went first, with synthetic data only and every approval denied. Times are the median seconds to the finished answer over the turns that completed; five turns per scenario per version.
| Scenario | 1.1.5 | 1.2.0 | Faster |
|---|---|---|---|
| Greeting | 5.65 s | 1.95 s | 2.9x |
| Short reasoning answer | 8.21 s | 3.66 s | 2.2x |
| Notes lookup (tool call) | 12.64 s | 5.20 s | 2.4x |
| Summarize recent messages | 9.68 s | 5.65 s | 1.7x |
All 20 of the 1.2.0 turns completed. 6 of the 20 1.1.5 turns failed with "Local inference peer attribution unavailable" and are not in its medians, which flatters 1.1.5. This is a small, single-machine sample, not the formal release benchmark (which this release is published without; see the waiver in the repository).

Wisp 1.1.5
This update makes Wisp easier to set up on a new Mac and more comfortable to use across different screens.
What's new
- Guided model setup. Find local inference engines and installed models, get a Ling recommendation for your Mac's memory, and configure Wisp's text roles. oMLX and model downloads remain separate.
- Better MacBook and monitor layout. The overlay adapts to different MacBooks and external displays, refreshes after display changes or wake, and uses a short hover dwell.
- More reliable builds. Browser test fixtures work inside the HOME sandbox, and email-digest date tests handle midnight reliably.
Install
- Download the app ZIP above and move
Wisp.appto/Applications. - Open Wisp and follow the model setup guide.
Apple silicon Macs running macOS 14 or newer are supported. This download is ad-hoc signed; macOS may require System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway on first launch. The app includes its backend and Python runtime. Install oMLX and model weights separately.
Source code is available in GitHub's ZIP and TAR.GZ downloads below. This release is Wisp 1.1.5, build 938.

What's improved since 1.0.2
- A useful Today plan: Keep local tasks in a day plan that advances with your Mac's local date.
- Clearer summaries: Messages prioritize unread and important conversations while filtering stale promotions; Mail summaries group messages by sender; an empty Calendar is distinguished from a sync problem.
- More reliable scheduling: Calendar events retain their start and end times, and reminders retain their dates.
- More model choice: Connect a cloud model or configure another local provider in Settings. Super Model can answer public questions through the cloud while keeping sensitive Mac work local.
- Better web and market answers: Improved question routing and synthesis, with stock changes compared against the previous close.
- Refined Settings and reliability: Updated navigation, local inference connection handling, and groundwork for source-backed follow-through.

Improvements
- Submit additional prompts while Wisp is busy; requests are queued in order.
- Queued prompts retain attachments and Research mode.
- Updated setup documentation for local models, cloud providers, and optional Mac mini inference.
Fixes
- Fixed a backend startup failure that could leave Wisp appearing to sync indefinitely.
- Improved request handling when resetting conversations or switching between Research and chat.
- Fixed GitHub release publishing issues.
Optional verification files, in relevance order
SHA256SUMS- checksums for verifying downloads.release-notes.md- a downloadable copy of these notes.provenance.json- the exact source and workflow used for the build.dependencies.json- the packaged dependency inventory.bundle-manifest.json- the files contained in the application bundle.simulation-qa.json- detailed automated QA evidence.
Known limitations
- Display placement improvements for external monitors and different Mac screens are planned.
- Submitting a queued prompt does not make the current sync or request finish faster.
- Native integrations require their corresponding macOS permissions.
