Release list
Decision Diary 0.2.3 — Mira & appearance
Decision Diary 0.2.3 — Mira companion, appearance, and accessibility
This release includes the application changes in commits 344ce03 and 24b7f28, following the 0.2.2 release baseline 99ab792.
What's new
- Mira, an original animated folded-paper fox, appears on Home and in decision, editor, review, and conversation screens. She reacts to writing, local AI thinking, saved entries, pending reviews, taps, and inactivity, with sleeping and waking states.
- Mira uses a self-contained bundled GLB asset and platform OpenGL rendering, with pause/disposal cleanup and reduced-motion behavior. She adds no cloud service or external asset downloads and remains separate from the existing AI name/personality preferences.
- Saved appearance preferences let you choose System, Light, or Dark mode.
- Refined paperbound colors, ribbons, spacing, motion, calendar presentation, notebook/book details, and unlock controls.
- Improved contrast, control touch targets, accessible labels/states, and licensed calendar/fingerprint icons.
- Added appearance, accessibility, Mira interaction/asset tests, device tests, and Blender/GPU verification scripts and evidence.

Privacy and legal
No Internet permission, accounts, analytics, or cloud AI. Room schema and backup format were not changed for this release. Terms, Privacy, copyright, and third-party licenses remain bundled for offline reading.
Copyright © 2026 Aj Escaño. Third-party components retain their own license rights. Public issues are for non-sensitive reports; do not upload journal entries, passcodes, or backup files.
Release verification — October 3, 2026
The pinned test, lint, and assembleDebug gate passed: 135 host tests, zero failures/errors, and zero lint errors (11 warnings). APK metadata reports 0.2.3 / version code 5. The APK is 412,521,516 bytes (approximately 413 MB).
The APK signature matches previous public previews. Its packaged Mira GLB and manifest match the source files, the offline AI model matches the pinned manifest SHA-256, no diary database is bundled, and the merged manifest has no Internet permission. APK SHA-256: d9c5d69dee575c7a2622b9a57506b4b84958bd71da6616769849f9cd98a71d3f.
No Android device was attached for this release check. The repository contains separate Mira device/GPU verification evidence from October 2; those checks were not rerun for this version bump. Sustained graphics/battery performance remains outside this host validation.
Decision Diary 0.2.2 — Calendar & bug fixes
Decision Diary 0.2.2 — navigation, notification permission, and notebook UI fixes
Download decision-diary.apk below. Android 8.0+ is required. This signed development preview includes the offline AI model.
Fixes and improvements
- Rapid editor-back taps cannot pop the Home screen and leave an empty green background. Each back action checks that its originating screen still owns the current navigation entry.
- Notification requests use an activity-owned launcher with failure handling. The existing Fragment library is constrained to 1.9.1: the biometric dependency previously selected Fragment 1.2.5, whose permission handling is incompatible with the Activity Result API. Android 13+ can request notification permission from the reminder switch; denied requests keep reminders off and retain the system-settings fallback.
- Settings, security/backup, and personality reset dialogs use matching compact button heights. Destructive actions retain their warning color.
- The passcode screen now shows a book cover with a brass keyhole instead of a padlock.
- Home has a custom review calendar with locale-aware weekdays, month browsing, a Today action, pending-review markers, and a selectable day's decision list.
- Removed the duplicate New Decision button below the greeting. The quill FAB is the single create action.
Verification
test, lint, and assembleDebug passed in the pinned environment: 117 host tests, zero failures/errors, and zero lint errors. Regression coverage includes rapid repeated editor-back callbacks, runtime permission requests and denial/approval using FragmentActivity, failed launcher handling, calendar date selection, month navigation, dialog alignment, leap years, locale week starts, and local dates across UTC midnight.
No Android device was attached during final verification. The real phone permission prompt and visual appearance still need device confirmation. The reported notification failure has a matching resolved-dependency/lint mechanism; no device crash trace was available.
Update and privacy
Version 0.2.2, version code 4, application ID com.decisiondiary. It retains the same signing certificate as earlier public previews. Back up important entries before updates. SHA256SUMS.txt provides the APK checksum.
The app remains offline with no Internet permission. Room schema and backup format were not changed. On-device AI remains optional. Terms, Privacy, copyright, and third-party notices remain bundled for offline reading.

Verification
The pinned local build passed test, lint, and assembleDebug: 109 host tests, zero failures/errors, and zero lint errors (nine warnings). Three UI tests cover legal navigation, policy access before onboarding completion, and separation of About from Settings. The APK signature and bundled policy text were verified before publication. SHA256SUMS.txt contains the APK checksum.
Preview and update information
This is a signed development/debug preview, version 0.2.1, version code 3, application ID com.decisiondiary. It uses the same signing certificate as the previous 0.2.0 download and can update that build without uninstalling. Back up important entries before any update.
The app has no Internet permission. Native AI performance depends on the device; personal notes and the core diary work without AI. Journal records use Android app-private storage without a separate database encryption key; app-lock credentials and optional encrypted backups are encrypted.
Copyright notices and proprietary license terms do not represent copyright registration or a guarantee of enforceability. Third-party components retain their own license rights.
Decision Diary 0.2.0 — public preview

Download
Download decision-diary.apk below. Requires Android 8.0 (API 26) or later. The download is approximately 412 MB and includes the offline AI model; the app does not download a model after installation.

- Notebook surfaces, wax-seal actions, ribbon filters, and manuscript-style reflection entries.
- Optional on-device AI reflection, with an off switch and personal-note mode.
- Master passcode, biometric/device unlock, and configurable auto-lock.
- Local JSON backup import/export with optional passphrase-based AES-256-GCM encryption.

Install
- Open the downloaded APK on your Android device.
- If requested, allow installation from the browser or file manager you are using.
- Confirm installation. You can disable that installation permission again afterward.
Back up existing diary entries before replacing an installation or changing signing keys. Never uninstall an existing diary without a backup; uninstalling removes its local data.
Preview status
This is the current signed development/debug build, version 0.2.0, application ID com.decisiondiary, version code 2. It is intended for early testing, not a production signing release. Future production-key builds may require exporting a backup, reinstalling, and importing because Android will not update an app signed with a different key.
Device performance and AI availability vary. The core diary remains usable without AI. Keep backups of important entries, and report issues without including private diary content.
The Room journal uses Android app-private storage. App-lock credentials and optional encrypted backup files are encrypted; the database itself does not use a separate application-level encryption key.
Integrity and attribution
SHA256SUMS.txt contains the SHA-256 checksum of decision-diary.apk. The APK signature was verified before upload. The quantized Qwen3 model is included with license acknowledgements available in the app's Licenses screen. Third-party licenses are bundled in the APK.
