Stop remote: Repository not found when you have several GitHub accounts. git-found is a Git credential helper that asks the GitHub API which of your gh accounts can reach each repo, and hands Git that account's token.

Install

brew install advaith334/tap/git-found
git-credential-found setup

Or without Homebrew:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/advaith334/git-found/v0.2.0/install.sh | GIT_FOUND_REF=v0.2.0 sh

What's in it

  • Picks the right account per repo: prefers one that can push, remembers the choice for a day, and never touches your active gh account.
  • doctor explains why a repo still fails: SSH remotes, tokens baked into URLs, expired logins, another credential helper answering first.
  • Single sign-on detection: if an org's SSO blocks the right account, git-found prints the link to approve its token.
  • Per-repo pins: git config found.account <login>.
  • Every host at once: setup covers github.com and any GitHub Enterprise host you're signed in to.
  • Works from GUI Git apps (GitHub Desktop, IntelliJ), not just the terminal.

Tested on macOS and Ubuntu.
