v0.2.1
git-found makes Git use the right GitHub account for each repo when you're signed in to more than one in the GitHub CLI.
Install:
brew install advaith334/tap/git-found
git-credential-found setupChanges since 0.2.0: a clearer demo and README, nothing else. The script is unchanged apart from the version number.
What 0.2.x does:
- Picks the account that can reach each repo (preferring push access) and remembers it for a day. It never changes your active
ghaccount. doctorchecks why a repo still fails: SSH remotes, tokens stuck in the URL, expired logins, another credential helper answering first.- Tells you when an org's single sign-on is blocking the right account, with the link to approve the token.
git config found.account <login>pins a repo to one account.setupcovers github.com and any GitHub Enterprise host you're signed in to.- Works from GUI Git apps as well as the terminal.
Tested on macOS and Ubuntu.
git-found v0.2.0
Stop remote: Repository not found when you have several GitHub accounts. git-found is a Git credential helper that asks the GitHub API which of your gh accounts can reach each repo, and hands Git that account's token.
Install
brew install advaith334/tap/git-found
git-credential-found setupOr without Homebrew:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/advaith334/git-found/v0.2.0/install.sh | GIT_FOUND_REF=v0.2.0 shWhat's in it
- Picks the right account per repo: prefers one that can push, remembers the choice for a day, and never touches your active
ghaccount. doctorexplains why a repo still fails: SSH remotes, tokens baked into URLs, expired logins, another credential helper answering first.- Single sign-on detection: if an org's SSO blocks the right account, git-found prints the link to approve its token.
- Per-repo pins:
git config found.account <login>. - Every host at once:
setupcovers github.com and any GitHub Enterprise host you're signed in to. - Works from GUI Git apps (GitHub Desktop, IntelliJ), not just the terminal.
Tested on macOS and Ubuntu.
