Don't Be Michael v0.1.9

An AI office for your small business. Pick your kind of business, pick your team, and Michael, your office manager, runs the floor while you run the business.

What's new in 0.1.9

  • Michael alone keeps the task board. Team members file what they need once, in a queue only Michael sees, and he works it in order: answers it, folds it into a card, or puts it on Ask me.
  • Done is final. Only you take a card out of Done, with a short reason; a card an agent reopens or deletes is put back as it was.
  • A parked step wakes on time. A To do card shows when its next step is due, and its person is reminded then, even if the app was closed.
  • One activity, one numbered ask, answered together; a part you leave open comes back on its own.

Mac (Apple Silicon and Intel) Dont-Be-Michael-0.1.9-mac-universal.dmg

Windows 11 (x64): Dont-Be-Michael-0.1.9-win-x64-setup.exe. ARM PCs aren't supported. This build is not yet signed with a Microsoft certificate: when Windows says Windows protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway.

Linux will follow.

Installing on your Mac

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg and drag Don't Be Michael into your Applications folder.

You only do this once. macOS asks because this early build is not yet signed with an Apple Developer ID. A signed build is on the way.

Don't Be Michael v0.1.8

An AI office for your small business. Pick your kind of business, pick your team, and Michael, your office manager, runs the floor while you run the business.

What's new in 0.1.8

  • The office takes a break when your Claude plan reaches its limit. Ask me and the top bar say when work starts again, nothing is typed into a session that cannot answer, scheduled jobs still go out on time, and the team carries on by itself at the reset.
  • Open a file Michael names, inside the office. File paths in his replies, Ask me cards and tasks are chips: Markdown, text, CSV and pictures open in a tab, other files in their own app.
  • A Done card shows what came of it, and no team member can change its own hooks or settings.
  • Dozens of fixes from contributors, including an email that may have gone out is never sent twice, and a damaged settings file is never written over.

Don't Be Michael v0.1.7

An AI office for your small business. Pick your kind of business, pick your team, and Michael, your office manager, runs the floor while you run the business.

What's new in 0.1.7

  • Microsoft 365 on your own domain gets a clear message. Testing a mailbox like info@yourbusiness.com that runs on Microsoft 365 now says it cannot be connected yet, instead of a misleading server or password error.
  • Large Office files cannot take the office down. A Word, Excel or PowerPoint file too big to read is refused before anything is unpacked.
  • No repeat emails after a restart, and web links open in your browser instead of replacing the app.

Don't Be Michael v0.1.6

An AI office for your small business. Pick your kind of business, pick your team, and Michael, your office manager, runs the floor while you run the business.

What's new in 0.1.6

  • Can send means no approval cards. A team member you let send email sends without asking, and moving one to Can send hands its waiting emails back to send itself.
  • Windows offices without Git for Windows work. Team members report what they do and can run commands again, so they clear their inbox and read Word and Excel files.
  • The terminal refits when its text size changes, and logs its sizes if it still runs past its box.

Don't Be Michael v0.1.5

An AI office for your small business. Pick your kind of business, pick your team, and Michael, your office manager, runs the floor while you run the business.

What's new in 0.1.5

  • Windows offices start. Team members no longer stop at a hidden "do you trust this folder?" question and quit; Michael and the team start on their own.
  • Cards that wait on someone move to Waiting. Michael moves them back to Doing when the customer or teammate answers, and chases them until then.
  • Clear reasons when an API key is not accepted, such as a key made outside a workspace, instead of "check your internet connection".

Don't Be Michael v0.1.4

An AI office for your small business. Pick your kind of business, pick your team, and Michael, your office manager, runs the floor while you run the business.

What's new in 0.1.4

  • Send on approval. A team member puts each email on Ask me, you edit or approve it, and then it sends exactly what you approved.
  • Michael answers you in the app. A question you send him shows where it stands, from Sent to Answered, with one notification per answer.
  • Send only access to a mailbox someone else watches: Sales can send from the CEO's address without reading the CEO's inbox.
  • Get Michael ready. Setup ends by installing Claude Code and signing you in where you can see it, or by taking an Anthropic API key.

An AI office for your small business. Pick your kind of business, pick your team, and Michael, your office manager, runs the floor while you run the business.

What's new in 0.1.1

  • A question on Ask me never disappears unanswered. It stays until you answer it or Michael withdraws it, and Task detail says when one was withdrawn and why.
  • Open the file a question is about. When a question names a report, sheet or draft saved in the office, the card lists it with Open, or Show in Finder.
  • Your answer goes only to Michael, who routes it to whoever asked.
  • A Beta pill and Report a problem in Settings open a GitHub issue with your app version and system filled in.
  • Windows 11 (beta) is built with every release candidate and joins a release once it passes a check on a real PC.

Don't Be Michael v0.1.0

An AI office for your small business. Pick your kind of business, pick your team, and Michael, your office manager, runs the floor while you run the business.

What's new in 0.1.0

  • A first task is a card. A new hire's one time first job goes to Michael as a card he hands out. A First task you type into a Work style becomes a card too, and standing duties stay on a schedule.
  • A Waiting column on Tasks. A card someone is working on but waiting for a reply shows who it waits on. Only Michael moves cards into Waiting or Blocked.
  • The floor has character. Every team member has a signature prop as their avatar and on their desk, departments have painted floor signs, and the office has plants, a water cooler and Michael's mug.
  • Who talks to whom reads by time, from the last hour to the last month, and shows teammates talking to each other.
  • Suggest me writes a first Work style when you hire.
