Third pre-release of MorseCQ, a Morse code trainer and serverless Morse chat over the Tox P2P network. Pre-alpha: expect breaking changes, including to on-disk data.

What's new since v0.1.1

Learning

  • Daily plan. Pick a 5-, 10- or 15-minute plan of review, focus, course and send steps. Speed advice is based on your recent results and is applied only when you tap it.
  • QSO simulator. Practise answering a CQ or calling CQ. Each part of the exchange is checked: calls, RST, name, QTH, confirmation, and 73 with <SK>. You can ask for AGN or QRS, get hints, and resume an unfinished QSO later.
  • Sending rhythm. Compare your keying against the standard timing, replay both, and practise the characters you get wrong.
  • Learn without an account. Training now starts on a local guest profile. Its progress moves over when you create or restore an identity. Chat still needs an identity. An optional placement check suggests a starting lesson.
  • Your own materials. Add your own texts, word lists and callsigns. Import and export TXT/JSON, and export practice audio as WAV.
  • Recording workbench. Open a WAV recording, loop a selection, decode it, and score your own copy against it.
  • More receive drills and a radio tools page: Maidenhead locators, distance and heading, band edges, antenna lengths.

Chat

  • Practise from chat. Copy a received message by ear on its own page, or save it as training material. Listen-only mode hides message text so you have to copy by ear.
  • Message management. Search the history with filters and jump to any message. Bookmark messages. Cancel a queued send or retry a failed one.
  • Received Morse can auto-play, and the composer accepts keyed input only.
  • A built-in "me" conversation for notes to yourself; it cannot be deleted.

Everywhere

  • Renamed to MorseCQ, with fixed icons on every platform.
  • Ten interface languages, including the reference content.
  • Fixes from the mobile, chat, Learn and localisation reviews; refreshed screenshots.

Known limitations

  • Not signed or notarized. macOS: right-click the .pkg → Open (or run xattr -d com.apple.quarantine <file>). Windows: SmartScreen → More info → Run anyway.
  • Android is signed with a debug key: fine for sideloading, but it won't upgrade to a future store build. Android and iOS have not been tested on physical devices yet, only on emulators and simulators.
  • iOS distribution through the App Store is blocked on the GPL-3.0 licence question.
  • Linux packages are built on Ubuntu 24.04 and need its glibc or newer.
  • In the recording workbench, a selection longer than five minutes plays only its first five minutes. Decoding noisy 44.1 kHz audio can produce false characters.

  • 聊天：
    • 用收到的消息练习抄收，或存为素材；纯听模式隐藏消息文字。
    • 历史搜索与跳转，消息书签，取消排队中或重试失败的消息。
    • 自动播放收到的电码，输入框只接受拍发输入。
    • 内置不可删除的「我」会话，用于给自己记笔记。
  • 整体：更名为 MorseCQ 并修复各平台图标；十种界面语言（含参考资料）；移动端、聊天、学习、本地化评审中的问题修复；截图已更新。
  • 已知限制：
    • 未签名 / 未公证：macOS 需右键「打开」，Windows 需在 SmartScreen 中选「仍要运行」。
    • Android 使用 debug 签名，Android / iOS 尚未在真机上测试。
    • Linux 包基于 Ubuntu 24.04 构建。
    • 录音选段超过 5 分钟时只播放前 5 分钟；嘈杂的 44.1 kHz 音频解码可能误出字符。
