MOBero 0.3.4

MOBero 0.3.4 republishes the current mining improvements with a new package version, allowing an upgrade from 0.3.3. Mining behavior is unchanged from 0.3.3.

• Windows and Linux miners include hwloc for CPU/cache topology detection.
• Auto lets XMRig select thread count and CPU affinity. Saved manual settings are preserved; stop mining and select Auto to switch.
• The mining panel shows actual active threads, huge-page allocation, MSR status, and CPU placement.
• Includes NPC impact explosions, varied shots, floating coin pickup indicators, compact earnings, and Copy link for the balance message.

Downloads: macOS 26+ Apple Silicon (DMG/ZIP), Ubuntu 22.04+ x64 (DEB/tar.gz), and Windows x64 (EXE/ZIP). The Linux DEB installs libhwloc15; portable Linux users need that system library. The Mac miner retains its existing CPU backend. macOS packages are ad-hoc signed, not Apple notarized.

Huge pages and MSR require OS permissions/configuration. MOBero does not elevate privileges; do not run the Linux desktop GUI as root. Auto is hardware-based configuration, not a guarantee of a particular hashrate.

MOBero 0.3.3

MOBero 0.3.3 improves CPU mining configuration and reports optimization status.

MOBero 0.3.2

MOBero 0.3.2 adds small pixel explosions when bullets hit NPCs, varied shot timing and speed after NPCs enter the screen, and a floating +1 when the mobster collects a coin. The estimated earnings panel is more compact, and the balance-link fallback now includes a Copy link button.

Download the installer or portable archive for your system:

MOBero 0.3.1 — Enemy encounters and coin pickups

The walking mobster now encounters one to three enemies every 21 seconds of active animation. He shoots them, each turns into a small Monero icon, and the icon disappears when he catches it. These coins are decorative, not mined earnings.

The animation pauses when the window is hidden or Reduce Motion is enabled, and resets when mining stops. It continues to run at 12 frames per second.

Download this version and replace or reinstall your existing app to get the animation. Wallet and settings are preserved.

• Ubuntu 22.04+ x64: download the .deb, install it, and open MOBero from the app menu. The .tar.gz is an extract-and-run alternative: keep the folder together and open mobero. The DEB is recommended, especially on Ubuntu 24.04+; it installs required libraries and integrates the Chromium sandbox.
• Windows 10+ x64: run the .exe installer, or extract the .zip and open MOBero.exe inside it.
• Apple Silicon, macOS 26+: the native Mac app remains version 0.3.1. Open the DMG, drag MOBero into Applications and replace your old copy, or use the ZIP. Existing settings are preserved. This Mac build is not Apple-notarized; first launch may require System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.

Enter your Monero wallet and press Start. The miner is bundled; no browser extension, Node installation, or separate miner setup is needed. Nothing mines on launch. Closing the app stops its miner.

Automated tests cover encounter timing, varying group sizes, shooting, coin collection, animation pause/stop, desktop launch, and miner Start/Stop/quit using a loopback-only connection. No public-pool mining is performed.

Checksums and corresponding modified XMRig source are included. Both default and minimum donation levels remain zero.

MOBero 0.3.0 — Linux and Windows

MOBero is now available for Linux x64 and Windows x64, with the same wallet, Start/Stop controls, earnings display and walking animation. The idle tagline is removed.

MOBero 0.2.2 — walking mobster

Adds a pixel-art mobster walking through a scrolling street while mining, inspired by the Chrome offline runner. The character stands still when mining stops. The animation runs at 12 fps, pauses when the page is hidden, and respects macOS Reduce Motion.

Also includes the cleaner earnings display from 0.2.1: compact This session and All time rows, readable XMR decimals, and smaller dollar estimates. No scientific notation.

Update: quit MOBero, download this DMG or ZIP, and replace your existing MOBero.app. Your saved wallet and preferences are preserved. There is no automatic updater.

MOBero 0.2.1 — cleaner earnings display

Simplifies the earnings display into two compact rows: This session and All time. XMR values now use ordinary decimals, with a smaller dollar estimate underneath. Zero shows as 0 XMR; tiny positive estimates show as <0.000001 XMR or <$0.01 instead of scientific notation or misleading zeros.

Download the DMG and replace MOBero in Applications, or extract the ZIP and replace your existing app. Quit MOBero first. Your saved wallet and preferences are preserved. There is no automatic updater; install this version to see the new display.

The miner and runtime are included. No browser extension, Homebrew, Node installation, or Terminal setup is needed. Enter your own Monero address and press Start mining. Closing or quitting the app stops its miner. No automatic startup or login item is installed.

This release is ad-hoc signed, without Apple Developer ID signing or notarization. If macOS blocks the first launch, follow Apple's instructions: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway, for a download you trust.

The bundled XMRig 6.26.0 has both its default and minimum donation levels set to zero. Matching modified miner and dependency sources are included in MOBero-0.2.0-miner-source.tar.gz; SHA256SUMS covers all downloads. Component licenses are inside the app bundle.

Validated: native WebKit startup with isolated settings, bundled miner probe, relocated ZIP launch, DMG mounting, signature integrity, system-only runtime linkage, zero-donation configuration dry run, and fake-miner integration tests for wallet/config forwarding, start/stop, preferences, request authentication and quit cleanup. A live public-pool mining session has not been tested for this release.
