Can contributors help review open PRs?

Hi maintainers,

I've just started contributing to this repo recently and would like to help out more by reviewing open pull requests, not just submitting my own.

Is it okay for non-maintainer contributors to leave review comments/approvals on PRs here? If there's a preferred process (e.g., only commenting vs. formally approving, specific labels to look at, or PRs that need attention), let me know and I'm happy to follow it.

Yes, contributors are absolutely welcome to leave review comments and approvals on open PRs. Here are a few guidelines:

What you can do:

• Leave review comments and approve PRs freely

One exception:

• For changes that affect the core review pipeline (i.e., OCR's main review capabilities), we'd ask you to hold off on formal approvals. We run large-scale evaluation suites internally on our compute clusters to validate those changes. That said, you're still very welcome to share your review feedback on those PRs — your insights are valuable regardless.

Review focus areas we care most about:

• Code-level quality issues
• Changes in system behavior (before vs. after)
• User experience regressions
