Under Display, Pane header bars controls the title-and-shortcut row above each pane. When disabled, those rows disappear to make more room for content; the focused pane's title and shortcuts appear in the bottom status line instead. Global message search uses a dedicated row above message subjects while active.
Mouse support is off by default, so your terminal's own native click-drag text selection and copy keep working untouched. Turn it on to use:
-
Click a sidebar row, a message row, or a pane to focus or select it, and
click a link in HTML mail (reusing whatever the focused reading line already
resolves to, so it needs Focus line on to reliably open the clicked
line's link rather than whichever link
Ctrl+N/Ctrl+Plast cycled to). While message search is active, clicking its search row resumes editing the query. -
Double-click a message row (or draft) to open it, the same as
Enter; on a sidebar row it does whatEnterdoes there (expand/collapse, or sync the folder). - Scroll wheel over the sidebar or message list moves the selection three rows at a time; over the reading pane it scrolls the message. The wheel never changes which pane is focused.
-
Right-click a row to select it and open a small menu at the pointer with
just the actions for what you clicked: a folder offers sync, new, rename,
hide/unhide, and delete; an account offers new folder, sync all, and manage
accounts; a message (in the list or the reading pane) offers reply, reply all,
forward, archive, move, delete, read/unread, and snooze. Click an item to run
it, or use
j/k(or the arrows) andEnter;Escor a click elsewhere closes it. The full command palette is still on:/Ctrl+P.
Clicks and the wheel do nothing while Settings, the Account Manager, Compose, or any other overlay is open. Turning mouse support on trades away your terminal's native click-drag text selection while it's enabled.
- Display: theme, icons, annotation tag style and colors, date format, mark-read behavior, focus line, show sender, unread-first ordering, actionable links, reading width, browser command, density, show email headers, desktop notifications, mouse support, and quit confirmation
- Editor: compose keys, vim keys, spell check, send delay, and maximum delivery attempts
- CLI: quit after send or draft, skip the review step, and the default signature for the interactive
tidemail cliwizard - Accounts: connection details, From address, signature, color, and sync interval. An account's color accents its own mailbox pane (unread text, the focused header, and the border) when that mailbox is selected directly, and tints each of its messages in mixed views — Unified Inbox, Needs You, Waiting on Them, and Snoozed — so you can still tell accounts apart at a glance when browsing across all of them.
- Updates: check, install, restart, or copy a manual install command
- Changelog: read the release notes bundled with your installed version, newest first, offline. Scroll with
j/kor the arrow keys, page withPgUp/PgDn, and jump withg/G(orHome/End);Escor←returns to the sections list - AI: OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or Ollama summary settings
- Advanced: logs and feed max body size
- Support: an animated café scene (swaying string lights, a steaming mug, Pac-Man chasing a coffee cup). Choose the Ko-fi Open or Copy link button with Up/Down and press Enter; Ctrl+C also copies the link, and Esc returns to Settings sections
- About: Support Tidemail, repository, and issue links, shown over an animated night-sea scene (stars, moon, a self-drawing TIDEMAIL wordmark, and rolling waves). The animation settles after about 40 seconds
- Plain (VT52) themes keep the original static About and Support pages instead of the animated scenes
Open the command palette with : or Ctrl+P and choose Support Tidemail
to go directly to the same Support page. Browser-launch failures leave the URL
in the status line so it can still be copied. Tidemail does not show donation
prompts during normal email use. A Pac-Man and coffee cup circle the page's
white dotted border only while Support is open.
