Getting Started

This page takes you from an empty inventory to a builder pulling materials out of your ME network.

What you need first

  • A working MineColonies colony with at least one Builder's Hut and an assigned builder.
  • A working AE2 network with power and some items in storage.

ColonyLink does not replace either mod. It sits between them, so both need to be functional on their own before any of this is useful.

1. Craft a Clipboard

The ColonyLink Clipboard is the item you carry around. Look it up in JEI or EMI for the recipe.

The Clipboard stores energy and spends a small amount of RF each time you send or craft something. Charge it in any RF charger, or let it draw power from your ME network through a Wireless Access Point.

2. Link a builder

Sneak and right click a Builder's Hut while holding the Clipboard. The builder is now linked and appears as a tab on the left edge of the Clipboard screen.

You can link several builders to one Clipboard. The default limit is five, and a server can raise it to ten.

3. Place a Redirector

The Colony Link Redirector is a block that goes on your ME network, usually next to your main storage. It is the piece that lets the Clipboard reach into your network, so it needs to be part of a powered, working grid.

Place it, then open the Clipboard and check the header. The Redirector line should read Linked in green.

4. Open the Clipboard

Two ways:

  • Right click while holding it.
  • Bind a key in Options, Controls, ColonyLink. The keybind ships unbound so it cannot clash with anything you already use.

The screen shows the builder's name, the building being worked on, its status, and the list of resources they still need. Each row tells you whether the item is available in your network, craftable, already being crafted, or missing entirely.

5. Send materials

Click Send on a row to push that stack to the builder, or Send All to do the lot. Craft All queues everything your network can autocraft.

By default materials go directly into the Builder's Hut, which skips the courier entirely. A server can switch this so a courier delivers instead. See [Delivery Modes] for the difference and why it matters.

6. Optional: the Warehouse Link Terminal

Once you are comfortable with the basics, the Warehouse Link Terminal is worth building. It is an AE2 part that mounts on a cable and gives you the colony Warehouse and your ME network in one screen, with a crafting grid and a tab for encoding Domum Ornamentum patterns.

That is covered on its own page: [Warehouse Link Terminal].

If something is not working

The header of the Clipboard is the first place to look. It tells you if the Redirector is linked, if the colony was found, and how much power you have left. [FAQ and Troubleshooting] covers the common cases.
