AM2R Android — v1.5.5.9
AM2R Android — 1.5.5.9
Full 1.5.5.9 release, following Preview 1. The autopatcher turns your own copy
of the original AM2R 1.1 Windows release (AM2R_11.zip) into either the Standard
or Dual Screen Android edition. Nothing playable is hosted here.
AYN Thor has been tested on physical hardware and confirmed working.
RG DS, Retroid Pocket Duo / Duo Lite and AYANEO Pocket DS profiles are included,
but physical compatibility remains unconfirmed. Desktop display tests do
not establish performance on those handhelds.
Changelog since Preview 1
Dual Screen
- Improved lower-screen alignment across all four profiles: full-width status
bars and map controls, centered pause pages, corrected log-page borders,
energy-tank spacing, the Energy icon and the Power Bomb selection indicator. - Fit Map now chooses a scale for each lower display using the revealed map's
occupied bounds. Small maps stay closer; larger maps fit within the usable
space on the 4:3 profiles, with room outlines and rounded corners retained. - The grid stays aligned to the map tiles at every zoom level, with thinner,
dimmer lines when zoomed out. Fit Map temporarily frames the revealed map;
Follow returns to the last manually chosen zoom, and 1x restores normal scale. - Area backdrops cover the complete map viewport without stretching. The map
heading changes with the current area, using the same area selection. - Refined title, options and pause-page presentation. Removed redundant touch
navigation strips from the title's menus; map and pause-page touch controls
remain available. - Improved launch and return from a lower-screen launcher such as Cocoon, so
gameplay returns to the upper display and the lower view resumes with it.
The warm return reuses the game session and briefly retains its lower image. - Lower-screen map and pause buttons now play the existing menu sound when an
action is accepted. Dragging and pinching remain silent.
Both game editions and source
- Missing saved controller bindings now fall back to the initialized Android
defaults instead of older hard-coded values. Existing saved bindings remain. - Added short explanatory source comments across the games and autopatcher.
- Limited cleanup replaces numeric display-mode labels with named constants
in Dual Screen and repeated trail-history assignments with descending loops
in both editions. The original update order and history lengths are retained.
Autopatcher
- Rebuilt the edition payloads with the final game changes above.
- Edition choices stack when the screen is too narrow for both labels. Button
labels stay on one line, including on the Thor lower display and 4:3 screens. - Adjusted the ending artwork to use the available space more consistently.
- Added the original AM2R menu beep to button presses and controller focus moves.
It follows media volume and stays silent during the intro. - Raised the internal app build number from 6 to 7, allowing this package to
update Preview 1. The displayed version remains 1.5.5.9. - Added separate code-only source archives for Standard, Dual Screen and the
autopatcher, with license notices, build notes and excluded-input manifests.
Included in 1.5.5.9
- Separate Standard and Dual Screen installations. Dual Screen keeps gameplay
above a live lower map, health, ammunition and item percentage. Touch can pan
and zoom while gameplay continues. Pausing freezes and dims gameplay with
the Olive palette while map, inventory, logs and settings remain below. - First-boot hardware selection, also available in Display Options. RG DS locks
upper gameplay to 4:3; on other profiles the aspect-ratio option affects only
the upper display. Retroid Pocket Duo and Duo Lite share a profile. - Automatic Android scaling in both editions, replacing the manual Scaling option.
- Save backup and restore between the Android editions and PC Community Updates
1.5.5, including validation, destination-slot selection and recovery copies.
Controller bindings and settings remain specific to each installation. - A landscape autopatcher with animated ending-screen artwork, the star backdrop
and game menu lettering. Choose an edition, select the original ZIP, then
install the verified output from Downloads. The installed game launches
independently; the autopatcher is not needed to start it.
Updating
- Install
AM2R-Autopatcher-1.5.5.9.apkon ARM64 Android 10 or newer. - Choose Standard or Dual Screen and patch your original
AM2R_11.zipagain. - Install the newly generated game APK over the same edition. Back up first;
updating preserves saves, while uninstalling the game deletes its private saves.
Updating the autopatcher alone does not update an already installed game.
Standard and Dual Screen use separate save storage. Use Options → Data →
Backup / Restore to transfer progress. Save compatibility with original 1.1
or other mods is not implied.

The three source archives contain editable code and build/resource definitions.
Images, audio, font payloads, datafiles, compiled binaries, generated patch
payloads, signing material and revision history are excluded from the sources.
The Android autopatcher APK contains the patch data needed to patch your ZIP.
Game code retains the AM2R Community Updates license and original attribution;
autopatcher code retains its MIT notice and xdelta3 its Apache 2.0 notice. The
palette implementation includes its MIT notice. These are code-only exports,
not complete projects that build without additional local inputs. Each README
explains restoration and the pinned build environment. A game rebuild from only
the original Windows 1.1 ZIP is not verified.
Verification and remaining coverage
Both edition outputs are checked against their signed build checksums. Focused
GameMaker runtime checks compare the old and updated trail behavior; automated
patcher checks cover edition selection and rejected or damaged inputs.
AYN Thor is the physically confirmed Dual Screen device. Other profiles still
need testing on their actual handhelds. This release does not claim a completed
full playthrough or guarantee 60 fps on every device. Please include the device,
Android version, selected profile and reproduction steps with issue reports.
