This is an experimental QGroundControl build from the ai/mavlink-console-assistant-v5.0.8 branch. It is not an official QGroundControl release.

AI Assistant scope

  • The assistant is integrated with MAVLink Console for diagnostic assistance.
  • The ChatGPT/Codex App Server path supplies vehicle context and console output for read-only analysis; it cannot invoke local QGroundControl tools or control the vehicle.
  • The OpenAI-compatible API tool-calling path is experimental. Local validation and explicit user confirmation protect any allowed diagnostic data request.
  • The assistant cannot arm, take off, land, change modes, modify parameters, modify missions, or execute arbitrary vehicle commands.

  • QGroundControl: v5.0.8.1
  • PX4: v1.18.0alpha
  • Test method: PX4 SITL
  • Operating systems: Windows 11 and Ubuntu

Known limitations

  • AI requests can time out when the selected service, local Codex App Server, network, or model response is slow or unavailable.
  • The OpenAI-compatible API tool-calling path remains experimental and needs further validation.
