Tasks, focus and timesheets — right from your notch

Zera 0.1.3 adds a workspace for planning your day, staying focused and turning completed work into a timesheet, plus faster access to your favorite apps.

What's new

  • Tasks and projects: a new Tasks tab with Today, Week and Month views, project filters and completed work grouped by day. Add a task with natural shorthand such as Write docs #project 30m, and rename projects or move tasks between them.
  • Focus orb: start a task to bring up a timer at the screen edge. Open the focus card to pause, finish or move to the next task; hover the orb for quick add, or use ⌥⌘T from anywhere. The timer pauses automatically after five minutes away.
  • Timesheets from commits: link a project to a repository or a folder of repositories. Your commits become completed tasks, grouped by Claude Code or listed individually when grouping is unavailable. Rebuild recent history and see which repositories contributed to each task. Commit-based time totals are estimates.
  • Copy and export your work: copy a day's tasks with one click, include times and repository names when needed, or export to Excel, CSV or dated text. Timesheets can round time to quarter hours.
  • Pinned and recent apps: pin or unpin an app with ⇧⌘P and reorder pins with ⌥⌘↑ / ↓. Your usual puts pinned apps first, followed by recent and running apps, making it easier to switch back to what you were using.

Refinements

  • Context menus now match Zera's visual style.
  • App-opener buttons hide shortcut hints when space is tight, keeping labels from overflowing.
  • Refreshed screenshots, a complete recorded app tour and a new landing page published through GitHub Pages.

Validation

  • Main's macOS CI passed: 139 tests, 3 skipped, 0 failures, plus the app build.
  • CodeQL checks passed.
  • The release workflow reruns tests and builds the download packages for this tag.

Zera 0.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 06 Oct 10:43

Download: Zera-0.1.1.dmg — open it and drag Zera to Applications.
Requires macOS 13 or newer (Apple silicon and Intel).

This build is not notarized yet: the first time, right-click Zera in Applications → Open → Open.

Verify: shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS.txt

What's new

  • App opener: launch apps and Zera's quick actions with ⌥Space, fuzzy search and keyboard shortcuts.
  • Clipboard history: revisit text, links, code, images and files with ⇧⌘V. Pin useful copies, search history and choose how long to keep it. Enable it in Settings; private copies and excluded apps are skipped.
  • Quick commands to find running processes and free TCP ports.

Fixes

  • Safari, Finder and apps in deeper or additional locations now appear in the opener.
  • Browse every matching result with the arrow keys; ⌘1–⌘6 opens a tile on the current page.
  • Process search includes Zera and full executable paths. Process and port lists show every discovered entry; ⌘R refreshes them.
  • Empty command lists handle arrow keys safely, and reopening the opener restores its search field correctly.
  • Clipboard returns to All with a cleared search when reopened.
  • Reminders return to Today / All sources, while unfinished forms remain available.

Performance and cleanup

  • Faster app ranking with fewer repeated settings reads and file-system checks.
  • Clipboard stops rebuilding while hidden; image previews no longer retain discarded tiles.
  • Bounded image caches, shared thumbnail requests and ordered clipboard-history saves.
  • Removed obsolete shelf and buddy implementations plus unused UI code, while keeping the current design and workflows.

Validated with 105 passing tests and a universal macOS build.
