Klip 2.0.2 public beta — updates and lossless trimming
Klip 2.0.2 public beta — October 11, 2026
Adds approval-based signed updates for installed copies and a bounded native
lossless trimmer. The 2.0.1 capture/duration-first policy remains unchanged.
Older versions require one manual installation to bootstrap the updater.
Portable copies still update manually. Executables remain unsigned; manifest
signing is not Authenticode and does not remove Windows reputation warnings.
Final application verification
Debug and Release passed 4/4 deterministic CTest suites. The ten-case isolated
updater matrix passed again on 2.0.2, including real Inno install/restart,
installer-failure recovery, cancellation, tampering, truncated/corrupt delivery,
unwritable cache and settings/media retention. Test-only version 9.0.0 keeps the
fixture higher than the application; no fixture is distributed or published.
Evidence: work/release-202-updater-20261011/results.json.
Final Release executable SHA256:
5cc097ee5f15bbd6fe00404058a6428287702f24a95e8524c5efcf57582c1a1f.
Production helper SHA256:
ec968fa19635ee13c6b7da5c3ce19e006e23abf2faabe8c1d478b03449d390a6.
After the installed instance was quit, the final executable passed actual
NVENC/OBS game capture at 1080p60 and 1080p120, three consecutive replay saves
while recording, real global shortcut input and three AAC tracks. Decoded
60 FPS media measured 59.81–60.00 distinct transitions/sec with zero repeated
source IDs. At 120 FPS, clips measured 119.62–120.00 distinct transitions/sec
with zero repeated IDs; the recording measured 119.60/sec with 0.334% repeats.
All files passed monotonic PTS and the 40 ms A/V marker gate. Evidence:
work/release-202-capture60-20261011 and
work/release-202-capture120-20261011. These are synthetic moving sources,
not Fortnite benchmarks or all-hardware claims.
The final trimmer passed preview/export, invalid range, cancellation, occupied
input and partial-file collision checks on an isolated copy of the submitted
Fortnite MKV. Earlier MKV/MP4 and three-track audio tests are documented in
updater-verification-2026-10-11.md, including packet equality and decoded A/V.

The final duration/noise test passed with three 30-second replays during
recording. Decoded spans were 30.067, 30.917 and 30.467 seconds; clips measured
58.97–59.03 distinct transitions/sec with 1.61–1.64% repeats, and the recording
58.90/sec with 1.84% repeats. PTS were monotonic and all A/V markers passed the
40 ms gate. This is not a zero-drop claim. Evidence:

Desktop source commit: 4dfde7e6dd3e54f9791807c557a440556d769ecd.
Verified package directory: artifacts/klip-2.0.2-verified-beta.
The first local packaging attempt used the pre-commit source archive and is
not published; a new package was built with the committed 2.0.2 sources.
Packaging now refuses a source HEAD with a mismatched project version.
The verified source ZIP contains the updater/trimmer implementation.
The extracted portable package passed all 701 file-manifest hashes, exact
application/helper equality with the tested binaries, no test-fixture binaries,
embedded 2.0.2 version and isolated loader/settings startup. Full package size
is 65,362,749 bytes. Installer: 18,421,354 bytes; portable: 26,549,218 bytes.
./tools/verify-obs-package.ps1 -PackageDirectory artifacts/klip-2.0.2-verified-beta -BuildDirectory build-obs-Release-updater-trimmer -Name <fresh-package-run>Website: 8/8 rendered/API/artifact/signature tests passed, TypeScript passed,
lint had no errors and three existing img-element warnings. The feed signature
is independently checked against the app's public key, exact installer size,
SHA256 and URL. Existing aggregate download-counter keys are retained.
Remaining beta limitations
Clean-Windows production bootstrap plus a higher signed production-package
upgrade has not been certified. The isolated Inno fixture is not a substitute.
No new AMD/Intel, physical microphone matrix, live Fortnite or Linux capture
coverage is claimed. Failed-install recovery is not full directory rollback.
Trim boundaries snap outward to keyframes rather than being frame-exact.
Signed feeds expire and must be renewed on the publisher's key-owning account
before expiry; the key remains non-exportable and outside Git/CI.
This publication is an unsigned public beta, not a stable or universal release.
Klip 2.0.1 public beta — replay duration fix
Klip 2.0.1 — unsigned public beta
Fixes short replays caused by constant-quality video filling the memory buffer
before the selected time was reached. Duration-first encoding is now the default
for new and existing settings. Selecting a duration no longer shrinks OBS replay
memory using an unrelated bitrate. Settings show the effective video bitrate;
constant quality remains an explicit option with its memory-limit warning.
The exact 2.0.1 Windows binary saved three decoded 30.47–32.02-second replays while
recording, with real global shortcuts, monotonic timestamps and zero repeated
source IDs on the NVIDIA test system. Debug and Release test suites passed.
Keyframe-aligned saves can be slightly longer than requested. These tests are
not universal game-performance or all-hardware certification.
Allow the buffer to warm up after starting or changing capture. Duration-first
limits bitrate to fit memory, so detail can decrease in demanding scenes. This
also affects recordings sharing the same encoder. Already-short clips cannot be
recovered retroactively.
Windows x64 only; Linux desktop support is not released. Ubuntu shared-core CI
and the native-port plan are included. This installer is unsigned. Verify the
SHA256 checksums; do not disable Windows security. Microsoft VC++ x64 runtime is
a separately installed prerequisite. Klip remains GPL-3.0-or-later; corresponding
Klip/upstream sources and dependency build recipes are included below.
Klip 2.0 — public beta
New OBS/libobs capture, audio, replay and recording engine. GPL-3.0-or-later with corresponding dependency source/build archives. Includes explicit Performance tuning, customizable shortcuts, volume controls, bounded replay buffering and MKV output. Unsigned public beta: GPU/game compatibility and broader hardware testing remain incomplete. Requires Microsoft Visual C++ x64 runtime. No universal FPS or OBS-parity guarantee. Verify SHA256SUMS before running. See docs/release-2.0.md and docs/klip-2.0-release-results.md in the tagged source for verification and limitations.
