2026-09-30 — Meeting with Simon Lauzier (deRabane)

Notes:

  • Simon met with 2 of the clients today.
  • We will meet with Alex (CTO, Omerlo) soon; we need to balance our grading requirements with what we want to build.
  • Andrew will probably meet with the IT team after the meeting with Alex.
  • Simon put a lot of emphasis on compensation for the team if the project succeeds.
  • Simon is not happy that he hasn't seen more of us in meetings, and we are behind on some items. We need to get organized.

Action items:

  • Concordia IP opt-out: Before Simon signs, email the professor to clarify insurance. Simon said we must be insured; if the university doesn't cover any part of it, he will insure us himself. Once clarified, add our names, the course and the project name, and send the document back to Simon to sign (ideally within 2–3 hours).
  • Product roadmap: Write our version of the roadmap from our vision of the project request (epics, stories, features, sub-issues), then meet to discuss and adapt it. Send to Simon ASAP; he will present the document and tickets to the clients.
  • Team structure and product map: Define a clear functional division of the team and a clear product map by Oct 22 at the latest, when Simon is back, including choosing a Product Manager (most likely Nguyen). If that goes well, build a prototype from it and client feedback during the first 2 weeks of November.
  • AI requirements: Formulate AI requirements from our previous work, with estimates of what we need, which tools, and a mock-up plan for AI token usage. Send to Simon ASAP.
  • Cybersecurity / IT: Follow up on cybersecurity and IT requirements (see the IT meeting note).
  • Team model: Decide whether we are treated as one team (the team carries underperformers) or as individuals with a team spirit (Simon's preference). Affects how contributions are recognized and future opportunities with the clients and his companies.
  • Omerlo communications: Discord was accepted; send an invite to Alex (CTO).
  • NDAs: Unsure whether ours had to be signed today. Simon is fairly sure only the teacher/TA's is relevant today, and he is fine with the teacher and TA not signing an NDA.
