What's wrong
The Cowork tab is absent from the sidebar navigation in the Mac desktop app. Sidebar shows only two top-level modes: Chat and Code. No Cowork entry is present, including under the collapsible "More" section.

Expected behaviour
Following Cowork's move to GA, the Cowork tab should be present in the sidebar alongside Chat and Code on personal accounts.

Environment

• Interface: Claude Desktop App
• OS: macOS
• Account type: Personal (Pro/Max), no workspace-level access controls in play
• App version: [fill in from Claude menu → About]

Steps to reproduce

1. Launch Claude desktop app on macOS
2. Observe sidebar — Cowork tab is not present
3. Expand "More" section — Cowork still not present
4. Restart app — issue persists

Additional notes
Existing bug reports on this issue (#48407, #49748) are Windows 11 only. This appears to be the first Mac report, which may be useful signal.

Confirming this on macOS 15.7.4 (24G517) (2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7), Claude Desktop v1.4758.0 (fb266c). Cowork and code tabs are missing from the sidebar — only Chat visible, nothing under any collapsible section. Cowork settings still appear in Settings, so the feature isn't disabled — it's just the sidebar entry that's gone. Was working normally before a recent auto-update. No reinstall attempted yet.

What happened

The Cowork tab was working normally on my machine until the automatic update to v1.7196.0 on May 12, 2026. After the update, the tab is completely gone from the sidebar — only Chat and Code are visible.

Expected behavior

Cowork tab should appear in the sidebar as it did before the update.

Steps to reproduce

1. Run Claude Desktop v1.7196.0 on an Intel Mac
2. Observe sidebar — Cowork tab is absent

Notes

• Cowork was working fine on this Intel Mac before this update
• This appears to be a regression introduced in v1.7196.0, not a hardware limitation
  (if Intel were unsupported by design, it should have never worked)
• No error message is shown — the tab is simply absent with no explanation
• There is no official downgrade path to verify the previous version

Please consider either fixing the regression or at minimum showing a clear
error message explaining why Cowork is unavailable, rather than silently
hiding the tab.
