[BUG] personal repos not visible in Claude Code web picker despite GitHub app installed #60637

Description

@ryantuck

Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Human author note: issue below was debugged by and written up by Claude Opus 4.7 via browser interface.

What's Wrong?

Two personal GitHub repositories do not appear in the repository picker in Claude Code on the web (claude.ai/code), despite the Claude GitHub App being correctly installed with repository access granted to both.

GitHub Username: ryantuck
Affected repos:

  • github.com/ryantuck/demigods
  • github.com/ryantuck/claude-codes (private)

The picker tooltip suggests installing the app on the private repo, but the app is already installed with access granted.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Installed the Claude GitHub App on personal account ryantuck via https://github.com/apps/claude/installations/select_target
  2. Granted access to both demigods and claude-codes (confirmed both are listed under "Repository access" in the app's GitHub configuration)
  3. Opened claude.ai/code and attempted to select either repo from the picker
  4. Neither repo appears in the list; searching by name returns "No repos match"
  5. For claude-codes, the picker shows a tooltip prompting to install the GitHub App on the private repo — clicking through to GitHub shows the app is already configured with access

Troubleshooting Already Attempted

  • Hard refreshed claude.ai/code
  • Logged out and back in to Claude
  • Tried an incognito window
  • Revoked the app under GitHub Settings → Applications → Authorized GitHub Apps, then reinstalled fresh from https://github.com/apps/claude
  • Confirmed the app shows as configured with access to both repos on the GitHub side

None of these resolved the issue.

Expected Behavior

Both demigods and claude-codes should appear in the Claude Code repository picker so I can select either as a working directory. The misleading "install the GitHub App" tooltip on claude-codes should not appear when the app is already installed with access granted.

Related Issues

This appears to be the same backend repository indexing bug affecting personal accounts that was reported in:

What Should Happen?

Repos that I've granted access to in GitHub should display in repository picker in Claude Code Web at https://claude.ai/code.
