Release list
2.1.2
What's Changed
- Fixed bug preventing starting of the AFP server from the MacFile preferences app.
- Misc. build/release enhancements
- Feature/installer version display so you can see what version you have installed, and where you're going.
2.1
- New installation application to make installing, upgrading and removing more intuitive.
- New log file located at ~/afpserverlog.txt to capture warnings and errors to aid debugging in the field.
- Fixed issue when copying files that contain invalid characters in their name.
2.0.0
A major release built around stability and protocol correctness — a broad set of bug fixes across the AFP server and the MacFile configuration app, a new client-visible feature, and a large codebase modernization. The most important changes:
- Custom volume icon — the server now advertises a 32×32 monochrome volume icon in GetSrvrInfo, so Mac clients show a recognizable icon for the server in the AppleShare Chooser and Finder instead of the generic default.
- DHCAST128 (DHX) login fixes — corrected several bugs in the secure Diffie-Hellman authentication path.
- FPEnumerate fix — directory enumeration now returns correct results.
- FPMoveAndRename fix — the source write-permission check now correctly uses the parent directory.
- Desktop database compatibility — desktop databases created before the new header format are now readable.
- Volume size reporting — corrected the size cap so 64-bit free/total byte counts are reported accurately.
- .res file handling — a set of major fixes to resource-fork emulation and .res data-fork handling.
- Connection & session stability — fixes to dsi_OpenSession and general connection handling, plus memory-leak fixes in the access-check path.
- Configuration app hardening — username/password length validation against the fixed DB fields, bounded string copies (no more unbounded strcpy), specific error codes propagated to the client, a corrected throughput display, and reliable server-startup polling.
- Codebase modernization
1.8.5
- Fixed bug when copying files with large resource forks on MacOS X
- Now include correct OpenSSL libs on installation
- Fixed crash in debug mode (did not affect normal users)
1.8.4
- Fixed file and folder time stamps as they appear on Mac clients.
- Add feature where certain files with extensions that are missing type and creator information will have it entered for them when a client queries for them so they see the correct icon in the Finder. Currently support, .sit and .txt extensions.
- A couple other minor bugs fixed.
1.8.3
- If a file with no file type or creator is encountered, the server will now look at the extension and set the correct file and creator so they look correct on the mac client and open as expected when clicked. Supported types currently are for extensions ".sit", ".hqx" and ".txt".
- Other minor bug fixes.
v1.8.2
This is a bug fix release that fixes a situation where the server networking would hang or crash. The fix also dramatically improves performance of the server.
v1.8.1
This release fixes several issues with the server. If you are using v1.8.0, it is recommended that you upgrade to this version.
The largest change included is a complete refactor/update of the desktop database implementation. The old implementation had many problems. This new implementation has been tested and appears to work quite well. This only affects MacOS Classic clients.
Other fixes include issues with permissions, and minor protocol bugs.
First release in about 15 years
Resurrecting this project to enable vintage MacOS clients (Classic MacOS and MacOS X through 10.4) to access file shares hosted on Haiku-OS.
