Build Instructions

Download the code
Please clone the git repository from git@github.com:antonmaju/egg-farm-system.git.
If you don't have Git installed, you can click "Download ZIP" button at https://github.com/antonmaju/egg-farm-system. -
Restore the database schema.
Browse inside src/db directory of source code. You will find eggfarmdb.sql there. Use it to restore the database schema. -
Open the solution file
Open Visual Studio and use it to load EggFarmSystem.sln. The file is located inside src/EggFarmSystem directory of source code. You may need to run Visual Studio with Administrator permission if you want to use service mode. -
Ensure NuGet package restore is enabled
Please refer to the following link to enable NuGet package restore. -
Set the service configuration (optional)
Open App.config file inside EggFarmSystem.Service project. Change the connection string.<add name="EggFarmDb" connectionString="Server={yourserver};Database={dbname};Uid={dbuser};Pwd={dbpassword};" />You can skip this step if you want to run application in direct access mode.

Set application configuration
Open App.config file inside EggFarmSystem.Client project.
If you wish to run application in direct access mode, then you need to ensure "IsDirectAccess" config key is set to "True".<add key="IsDirectAccess" value="True" />You will also need to edit connection string value.
<add name="EggFarmDb" connectionString="Server={yourserver};Database={dbname};Uid={dbuser};Pwd={dbpassword};" />If you want service mode, you will need to do the step #5 above and set "IsDirectAccess" config key to "False"

Set startup project(s)
If you want to run in direct access mode, just set EggFarmSystem.Client as startup project.
If you want to run in service mode, you need to set multiple startup projects, which consists of EggFarmSystem.Client and EggFarmSystem.Service projects. -
Compile and run the application with F5.
