First-Person Fallback Animations Overhaul

The firstPersonFallbackAnimations option allows you to specify default first-person animation sets to use as fallbacks for your weapon.

You can use either the traditional GeckoLib animation directory structure or an external directory located elsewhere in your content pack.

Single Animation Set

To use a single animation set, provide its directory name as a string:

"firstPersonFallbackAnimations": "walking_animations"

Multiple Animation Sets

You can also specify multiple animation sets using an array. This allows you to combine as many animation sets as needed.

"firstPersonFallbackAnimations": [
  "default_animations/pistol_anims/walking_animations",
  "default_animations/pistol_anims/idle_animations",
  "default_animations/pistol_anims/dual_wield_animations"
]

Each entry specifies an animation set to use.

Using External Animation Directories

You are not limited to placing your animation sets inside the traditional animations directory. You can also reference animation directories located elsewhere in your content pack, provided that the specified paths match the directory structure expected by the mod.

This allows you to organize and reuse animation sets across different weapons and animation categories.

Which Format Should You Use?

  • Single string: Use this when you only need one animation set.
  • Array: Use this when you want to specify multiple animation sets.
  • Traditional GeckoLib directory: Use the conventional animation directory structure.
  • External directory: Reference an animation directory located elsewhere in your content pack.

Both the single-string and array formats use the same firstPersonFallbackAnimations option. Choose the format that best suits your content pack's organization and animation requirements.
