@EvilOlaf I would be perfectly fine with implementing it myself, I have experience with LXQT. I'm just having trouble understanding where my complete completed directory goes when all is said and done. Another problem is that LXQT is built around the Firefox browser, and your criteria for the min image seems like it won't be possible to implement a min version. As for the images themselves I would be happy to compile and contribute them.

Build system executes armbian-config install via API. Development can be done on top of minimal CLI image. When adding config, automated testing is also present at the PR stage, so you can see if recipe works same on specific release. Then you can fine tune it further. You can see examples within:

On quick look, I would say you are on right path. I think for browsers, its done separately. But open a PR. We have subtantial automation which will answer that in the PR stage.

Now develop it further. AI gave you few tips, look into documentation. Whole system was made into the direction that you can DIY add deskop. Make VM at your computer (or just use SBC) and proceed with testing and polishing. Tooling was made that you can cleanly install / uninstall on top of CLI image. Once you have that, proceed to testing with build framework.
