Third pre-release: PluginUI.NPlug is now on NuGet, built on the official NPlug 0.6.1 packages. NPlug 0.6.1 and NPlug.Proxy 2.0.2 ship the last fix PluginUI needed (ARM64 plug-ins in Contents\arm64-win). PluginUI therefore uses NPlug from NuGet instead of its sources, and the VST3 adapter can be published as a package. The toolkit, the editor elements and the demo are unchanged.

Everything below is built and checked by the release workflow: unit tests, and the Steinberg VST3 validator 47/47 on x86-64-v3, on x86-64-v2, and on the universal bundle on x64 and on Windows ARM64. It has not been tried yet in a real DAW. Feedback is welcome in the issues.

A plug-in in one package reference

<PropertyGroup>
  <TargetFramework>net10.0</TargetFramework>
  <OutputType>Library</OutputType>
  <RuntimeIdentifier>win-x64</RuntimeIdentifier> <!-- or win-arm64 -->
  <CopyLocalLockFileAssemblies>true</CopyLocalLockFileAssemblies>
</PropertyGroup>
<ItemGroup>
  <PackageReference Include="PluginUI.NPlug" Version="0.1.0-beta.3" />
</ItemGroup>

PluginUI.NPlug brings PluginUI and NPlug, along with NPlug's build files: debug proxy, factory export and the NativeAOT .vst3 on dotnet publish -c Release.

What's changed

  • Added: the PluginUI.NPlug NuGet package.
  • Changed: NPlug comes from NuGet (NPlug 0.6.1, NPlug.Validator for the tests). Projects generated by PluginUIEditor reference only PluginUI.NPlug.
  • Removed: the external/NPlug git submodule, the NPlugRoot property, ScaffoldOptions.NPlugRoot and the editor's NPlug src folder option.

@asm8086 asm8086 released this 19 Oct 09:27

Second pre-release, now built on the official NPlug 0.6.0. All the NPlug fixes PluginUI needed have been merged into xoofx/NPlug and released in 0.6.0, so PluginUI no longer uses a fork. The toolkit, editor and demo are unchanged since beta.1.

As before, everything below is built and checked by the release workflow: unit tests, and the Steinberg VST3 validator 47/47 on x86-64-v3, on x86-64-v2, and on the universal bundle on x64 and on Windows ARM64. It has not been tried yet in a real DAW. Feedback is welcome in the issues.

NuGet: dotnet add package PluginUI --prerelease, plus PluginUI.Design for design files.

The NPlug adapter, PluginUI.NPlug, is still used from source, together with the NPlug 0.6.0 sources (the external/NPlug git submodule). The reason is that the NPlug.Proxy 2.0.1 package on NuGet still writes ARM64 plug-ins to Contents\arm_64-win.

Requirements: Windows 10 1809 or later, x64 or ARM64. Documentation: https://asm8086.github.io/PluginUI/

What's changed

  • NPlug: the external/NPlug submodule now points to the official NPlug release 0.6.0. When the submodule is missing, the build and the generated projects look for a sibling ..\NPlug clone.
  • Documentation and third-party notices updated accordingly.
