Sheets MCP 1.3.3
The live preview follows Claude into the sheets it reads
When you ask Claude to build a sheet from other sheets, for example "copy these tabs into a new sheet", it usually spends a while reading the sources before it writes anything. The preview used to sit on the new, empty sheet during all of that. Now:
- While Claude is reading, the preview shows the sheet it's reading, with the same scanning outline you see on your own sheet.
- Once Claude starts writing to the sheet you asked about, the preview stays there. Later reads from the sources show up in the steps list, so the preview doesn't jump back and forth.
- A row of spreadsheets replaces the title when Claude has worked in more than one. An orange dot marks the one Claude is in. Click any of them to look at it, the same way the tab strip works.
- The steps list names the spreadsheet for steps in another sheet, e.g.
read_range Compass Model V1 › Inputs!A1:D7.
Smaller fixes
- No more snap-back: Claude's outline no longer jumps back to its last change and then out again between steps. An outline that was hidden now appears where it belongs instead of growing out of the corner.
- "Reading" label: the Live label says "Reading" while Claude reads, instead of "Editing".
- No duplicate previews: Claude no longer opens a second preview for a source sheet when the one you're watching already follows it there.
Updating
- Claude Desktop: download sheets-mcp.mcpb, open it, and click Install. Then quit Claude Desktop (Cmd+Q) and reopen it. Until you do, chats keep showing the old preview.
- Claude Code:
@sheetsmcp/server1.3.3 is on npm.
