TaskMan v0.1.18
TaskMan v0.1.18 delivers comprehensive telemetry and accuracy fixes across all tabs, LocalSystem identity resolution for boot-critical and protected processes, major sampling and repaint performance optimizations, protocol v6 updates, and extensive security hardening for the Windows installer and uninstaller.
Process Management & Identity Resolution
- Protected Process Identity: Boot-critical processes (
smss, csrss, wininit, winlogon, services, lsass, dwm), kernel pseudo-processes (Registry,Memory Compression,Secure System), and font/session hosts now resolve their owning accounts, SIDs, and elevation state via LocalSystem service token queries instead of displaying "—" / "Unknown". - PID Reuse & Tree Termination Safety: "End process tree" now operates on a single kernel process snapshot with strict creation-time validation, preventing termination of unrelated processes when PIDs are recycled. Exited processes accurately report that they no longer exist.
- Group Action Uniformity: Efficiency mode and process suspension/resumption on grouped rows now cleanly apply across all processes in the group.
- UI Thread Deadlock Fixes: Context-menu actions on Users ("Sign out") and Services ("Start") no longer hold cache locks across blocking calls, eliminating UI thread freezes.
- Selection Stability: When a selected process terminates, row selection smoothly transfers to the adjacent process instead of jumping to the top of the list.
Telemetry Accuracy & Hardware Reporting
- Accurate CPU Cache Totals: Physical cache instances are counted at full capacity rather than divided across sharing threads, accurately reporting L1, L2, and L3 cache sizes on multi-core processors.
- Firmware Virtualization State: The CPU page now reflects whether virtualization is actively enabled in firmware or running under a hypervisor.
- Telemetry Sleep Recovery: GPU, disk, and CPU-speed PDH counters properly re-arm and resume collecting data after the window is restored from the system tray.
- Accurate Memory & Disk Detection: 32 GB+ RAM modules are accurately totaled, shared physical disk partitions (e.g. C: and D: on one drive) receive accurate transfer rates, and Wi-Fi adapter GUID matching is corrected.
- Honest Missing Data: Inactive or unavailable telemetry consistently reports "—" rather than fabricated zeros or guessed fallbacks.
- ETW Trace Self-Healing: Stopped event traces behind network and disk activity columns are detected, indicated as unavailable, and automatically restarted.
Engine Cadence & Performance Optimizations
- Lower Sampling CPU Cost: Switched from Toolhelp thread snapshots and continuous SCM config walks to kernel process tables and cached service configurations, eliminating ~60+ ms of CPU time per tick.
- Lighter Repaints: Text width measurement for table column auto-fitting is deferred until a separator is double-clicked rather than measured on every frame.
- Cadence & History Consistency: Sampling adheres to strict deadline cadences, preventing duplicate or spiked samples on tab switches and window restores, and app history counters maintain monotonic continuity across tab changes.
- Durable Configuration Files: Settings, history, and startup impact files are flushed atomically before replacement; unreadable files are preserved as
.badrather than silently overwritten.
Installer & Platform Security Hardening
- DLL Planting Protection: Elevated setup uses System32-only DLL search order, delay-loaded dependencies, and hybrid CRT linking, preventing arbitrary code execution from untrusted download directories.
- Payload & Image Pinning: Setup opens and validates its embedded payload through an exclusive locked handle to its own image, preventing post-UAC executable substitution.
- Secure Setup Logging: Setup logs are written to protected administrator paths (
%SystemRoot%\Logs\TaskMan\setup.log) with symlink/junction traversal defenses. - Early Payload Decompression Bounds: Manipulated payload archives exceeding declared bounds are aborted immediately upon extraction.
Cross-Platform Improvements
- Linux: Thread-wide priority and CPU affinity propagation, distinct CPU cache totals, transfer rates for
/dev/mapperLVM/LUKS drives, non-systemd error reporting, and safe fallback for non-TrueType system fonts. - macOS: Accurate suspended process detection, disk transfer throughput, file handle counts, system hostnames, and startup item states.

TaskMan v0.1.17
TaskMan v0.1.17 brings robust setup lifecycle and permission handling, security hardening for elevated installer staging, reliable Windows Task Manager replacement restore during uninstallation, and accurate telemetry reporting for unavailable disk activity.
Setup Lifecycle & Permissions
- Desktop Launch Authorization: Resolved post-install launch failures (
0x80070005access denied) by including adjustment rights on duplicated desktop tokens, ensuring TaskMan launches cleanly under the interactive desktop user while strictly refusing elevated fallback. - Administrator & Desktop Identity Separation: Separated UAC administrator credentials from the interactive shell user for shortcut placement and broker enrollment. When an unelevated desktop token is unavailable, setup surfaces this up front before modifying the machine.
- Service-Free Upgrades: Upgrading with the background service disabled cleanly stops and unregisters any existing broker before modifying protected program files, avoiding file locks and manifest validation mismatches.
- Installer Cancellation & Diagnostics: Window close is safely inhibited during active operations. Step failures and background worker startup issues are captured, surfaced in the wizard, and logged to setup diagnostics.
Windows Integration & Uninstallation
- Selective Task Manager Restoration: Uninstalling cleanly restores the native Windows Task Manager if TaskMan was registered as its replacement, preserves third-party replacements, waits for service termination, and ensures the Add/Remove Programs entry persists until file cleanup succeeds.
- Architecture Detection: Packaging and artifact naming follow the active Rust host triple, preventing malformed empty-architecture archive suffixes in constrained environments.
Performance & Management Polish
- Disk Activity Telemetry: Unavailable disk activity correctly leaves gaps in graph timelines and resource sparklines with "—" readouts, preserving zero values strictly for measured idle states.
- Batch Action Diagnostics: Multi-process management actions (End Task, Efficiency mode, Priority, and Affinity) retain specific failure reasons and report partial completions accurately.
Security
- Isolated Installer Staging: Elevated setup helpers now extract to an administrator/System-only staging directory under
%ProgramFiles%rather than user temporary directories, with atomic teardown on both success and failure.

TaskMan v0.1.16
Introduces the new self-contained Windows setup installer (taskman-setup.exe), moving beyond standalone archives to offer a complete native installation and upgrade experience. Also brings the shared tm-ui styling crate, automatic start for the background core service, and high-visibility diagnostic reporting when installed binary integrity fails.
New Windows Setup Installer (taskman-setup.exe)
- Self-contained, 100%-Rust installer. Releases now ship single-file setup executables (
taskman-v0.1.16-windows-x86_64-setup.exeandtaskman-v0.1.16-windows-arm64-setup.exe) alongside standalone.ziparchives. - System integration & security. Installs Task Manager to
%ProgramFiles%\TaskMan, optionally registers and starts the privileged background service so the first GUI launch reaches the broker without a UAC prompt, registers Start menu shortcuts and an opt-in desktop shortcut, and creates an Add/Remove Programs entry in Windows Settings > Apps. Upgrades existing installations seamlessly in place while preserving user settings. - Embedded verified payload. The application payload is deflate-compressed and verified against per-entry SHA-256 hashes prior to extraction, preventing partial writes from corrupt binaries. Bare build outputs missing payloads are refused up front.
- Windows 11 wizard UI & silent CLI. Custom eframe wizard rendered with the native application theme and fonts (
tm-ui), featuring an MIT license review gate, proper margin insets, and clear option descriptions. Full unattended automation via/S,--uninstall,--no-start-menu,--desktop,--launch,--no-service, and--dry-run.
Core Service & Diagnostics
- Instant automatic service start. The TaskMan Core Service now configures as plain "Automatic" rather than "Automatic (Delayed Start)", ensuring the privileged broker is immediately available upon desktop boot without waiting for the delayed-start grace window. Existing installations are migrated upon next repair/reinstall.
- Actionable binary integrity diagnostics. When installed binaries diverge from the pinned broker manifest, the service reports a distinct SCM exit code (
SERVICE_EXIT_INSTALL_INTEGRITY) and logs the mismatching file with expected and actual fingerprints. Settings › Advanced surfaces this directly as "integrity check failed" with a one-click Repair action instead of an opaque stopped state.
Shared Theme & Interface Refinements
- Shared theme crate (
tm-ui). Extracted the Windows 11 Task Manager color palette and font configuration into a dedicated crate shared between the main application and setup installer. - Wizard spacing and single launch prompt. Aligned installer body margins to match header/footer chrome bands, indented option descriptions, and unified post-install execution into the Options checkbox.

TaskMan v0.1.15
A major accessibility, keyboard navigation, and UI polish release: full keyboard-only controllability across every page and list, native Task Manager table selection semantics, cyclic Tab traversal and F6 landmark navigation, keyboard-scrubbable Performance charts, modal dialog focus isolation, screen reader / AccessKit support, and robust context menu keyboard focus and arrow navigation.
Full Keyboard Navigation & Native Table Semantics
- Native Task Manager table interaction. Table rows no longer act as rigid individual Tab stops. Arrow keys move selection from anywhere on the page, Shift+Arrow extends multi-selection, Ctrl+Arrow moves without clearing selection, Space toggles row membership, Enter triggers the primary action (Go to details, Process properties), and PgUp/PgDn pages by visible viewport span.
- Context menu keyboard focus & arrow navigation. Context menus opened via the Menu key or Shift+F10 immediately focus the first enabled item. ArrowUp and ArrowDown wrap circularly through enabled entries skipping disabled items, Home/End jump to the start and end, and arrow keys are strictly trapped within the menu layer without escaping to background headers or rows.
- F6 landmark navigation regions. F6 and Shift+F6 cycle deterministically between the page search box, sidebar navigation pane, command toolbar, and main content area.
- Cyclic Tab traversal & focus continuity. Seamless Tab and Shift+Tab navigation cycle across Search, Sidebar, Command buttons, Table headers, and Content without focus traps when toolbar items are absent or disabled.
- Page switching shortcuts. Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab cycle through tabs with wrap-around, and Ctrl+1 through Ctrl+9 jump directly to pages. Ctrl+N opens "Run new task", Ctrl+, opens Settings, and F1 toggles a localized keyboard shortcut overlay.
- Eliminated visual selection flicker. Fixed mid-frame focus handoffs in egui so widgets gaining focus immediately lock Tab and arrow keys, eliminating 1-frame visual selection flashes. Sidebar arrow navigation strictly clamps between the hamburger button and settings.
Keyboard-Scrubbable Charts & Column Control
- Interactive performance charts from keyboard. Focused Performance graphs scrub historical samples using Left/Right and jump to bounds with Home/End. Up/Down moves between multi-series channels and per-core processor grids, displaying pinned sample readouts.
- Keyboard column reordering & resizing. Alt+Left/Right on focused column headers moves column positions; focused resize handles adjust widths via Left/Right arrows. Enter or Space sorts, and the Menu key opens column pickers.
- Keyboard-adjustable card splitter. The splitter between Performance resource cards and details is a focusable control taking Left/Right arrow adjustments.
Modal Dialogs & Screen Reader Accessibility
- Strict modal dialog focus containment. Open dialogs hold keyboard focus and pointer interactions exclusively, preventing accidental interaction or hotkey leakage to background pages.
- Screen reader / AccessKit support. Tables, Performance resource lists, charts, and dialogs expose structured accessibility trees with roles, position in sets, descriptive labels, and live sample values.
- Accurate selection visuals. Active selections render vibrant accent tints with native Windows 11 vertical indicator pills; inactive selections display dimmed fills without the accent pill.

TaskMan v0.1.14
An input responsiveness, system stability, and diagnostic reliability release: unblockable Ctrl+Shift+Esc hotkey handling with desktop input queue isolation, power throttling (EcoQoS) exemption for low-level keyboard interception, self-targeting process operation safeguards, non-blocking UI settings persistence, reliable file logging and crash records, orphan-free kernel ETW trace session teardown, and allocation-free case-insensitive table sorting.
Hotkey Interception & Desktop Input Isolation
- Unblockable Ctrl+Shift+Esc hotkey handling. The hotkey worker thread no longer synchronously waits on TaskMan's UI thread. If TaskMan's window is hung or starting up, the hotkey worker forwards the combo to Explorer to launch a responsive instance, and the IFEO registry watch remains active so disabling the replacement always cleanly removes the hook.
- Input queue isolation during window activation. Window activation now shares only the foreground thread's input queue rather than chaining both the foreground and target queues. Slow or hung frames no longer delay foreground game or application input.
- EcoQoS exemption for keyboard hook thread. The low-level keyboard hook thread is now explicitly opted out of Windows power throttling (EcoQoS), preventing keystroke latency when TaskMan is minimized to the system tray on efficiency cores.
- Safe Escape key swallowing & clean tray restore. Auto-repeat Escape presses clear the swallow mask so Escape never stays held down, swallowed releases are strictly TTL-bounded (1 second) to prevent dropping unrelated Escape releases across desktop switches, and window uncloaking is handled by the UI thread to eliminate white flashes on restore.
Process Operations & Self-Protection
- Self-targeting safeguards. TaskMan now strictly refuses suspend, priority change, processor affinity modification, and Efficiency mode actions targeting its own process. This prevents accidental freezes of the low-level keyboard hook or lockout scenarios. Saved per-program rules also exclude TaskMan's own process on startup.
- Accurate batch operation feedback. Efficiency mode toggles across multi-selections now accurately track per-process success and failure, reporting real errors when all targets fail and showing
(done/total)counts for partial completions.
Diagnostics, Logging & Crash Reporting
- Process-lifetime file logging. Fixed early drop of the
WorkerGuardand connected the file sink on engine startup, ensuring log files record full run history rather than truncating after the first line. - Synchronous crash records. Release builds (
panic = "abort") now synchronously flush panic payload, thread state, and symbolized backtraces to<log>.crash. - Kernel ETW session abort teardown. Emergency cleanup (
stop_live_sessions) stops kernel ETW trace sessions (TaskMan-Disk-ServiceandTaskMan-Net-Service) on abnormal process aborts, preventing orphaned sessions from continuing machine-wide background tracing.
UI Responsiveness & Table Sorting
- Non-blocking settings persistence. All UI settings saves are now dispatched to the background coalescing writer thread, removing synchronous disk I/O from frame rendering.
- Bounded Services tab loading. The Services tab now queries via the bounded action executor rather than an unbounded raw thread, preventing permanent "Gathering data" spinners on worker failure.
- Allocation-free table sorting. Replaced per-comparison lowercase string allocations across all table tabs with an iterator-based case-insensitive comparison helper (
tablekit::cmp_ignore_case). - Accurate Startup approved state. An empty
StartupApprovedregistry value is now correctly recognized as enabled rather than disabled.

TaskMan v0.1.13
An efficiency, performance, and metric fidelity release: VidMm-accurate dedicated and shared GPU memory reporting, zero-overhead background operation with gated telemetry demands and stretched sampling cadences, dynamic event-driven keyboard hook attachment, non-intrusive topmost window tracking, and leak-free service watchdog lifecycle management.
GPU Metric Accuracy
- Authoritative VidMm GPU adapter memory counters. Switched dedicated and shared GPU memory reporting on Windows to
\GPU Adapter Memory(*)\Dedicated UsageandShared Usageperformance counters directly from the Windows Video Memory Manager (VidMm). Previously, summing per-process virtual committed video memory double-counted composed window buffers and DWM surfaces (e.g.dwm.exealone routinely reports 8–10+ GB of virtual committed VRAM), causing an idle GPU using ~1.5 GB of VRAM to be reported and charted at 11+ GB (often 90–100% capacity). Adapter metrics are now matched by adapter LUID, restoring accurate physical VRAM numbers matching native Windows Task Manager.
Background Efficiency & Idle Power Contract
- Visibility-gated telemetry demand. When TaskMan is hidden in the system tray, minimized, or occluded, telemetry demand automatically demotes to
TelemetryDemand::hidden()(CORE_PROCESSonly). This eliminates ~1.25 MB/s of background ETW trace throughput from the disk and network kernel trace sessions (TaskMan-Disk-ServiceandTaskMan-Net-Service) while TaskMan is not visible. - Stretched cadence & background thread scheduling. Hidden mode stretches sampling cadence to 5 seconds and places the sampling thread into
THREAD_MODE_BACKGROUND_BEGINso background monitoring never takes disk I/O, paging, or CPU time slices away from foreground games or user applications. - Instant surface restoration. When the TaskMan window is unminimized or restored from tray, an immediate frame request and sampler tick are dispatched, guaranteeing the restored interface never lags on hidden cadence or stale numbers.
Hotkey Hook & Desktop Interactivity
- Dynamic hook installation. The
WH_KEYBOARD_LLlow-level keyboard hook is now only installed while the Task Manager replacement is actively enabled in Image File Execution Options (IFEO). An event-drivenRegNotifyChangeKeyValuewatch on the IFEO root arms and disarms the hook automatically without registry polling. - Worker message queue pumping. The background hotkey worker thread pumps its own Win32 message queue, ensuring that thread input attachments during foreground activation cannot starve or back up the target application's message loop.
Desktop Window Management & Stability
- Topmost tracking isolation. Removed desktop-wide
EVENT_OBJECT_REORDERhook from the strict topmost keeper, eliminating cross-process event marshalling on internal UI reordering within other applications. Topmost hooks are now cleanly unhooked whenever always-on-top is disabled. - Hung application protection during foreground activation.
force_foregroundnow checks whether the current foreground window is hung before attaching thread input, preventing activation calls from hanging or wedging unresponsive applications.
Service Reliability & Watchdog Lifecycle
- Ephemeral trace watchdogs. Core service idle trace watchdogs are now spawned directly with their trace sessions and sleep to the exact idle deadline, terminating cleanly when the session ends rather than polling continuously for the lifetime of the service.

A reliability, performance, and responsiveness release: authoritative zombie process eviction without sampler freezes, cycle-safe PPID hierarchy walking, false-positive elimination for "Not responding" status on background games, restored action toast TTL with a "Clear all" stack action, low-latency WH_KEYBOARD_LL hotkey hook handling, and truthful GPU driver version reporting.
Process Sampler & Hierarchy Reliability
- Authoritative kernel process table liveness & zombie eviction. Switched process liveness validation to
NtQuerySystemInformation(SystemProcessInformation)matching native Task Manager. Zombie processes lingering in teardown with external handles are cleanly evicted without triggering per-ticksysinfore-enumerations that previously froze the sampler thread at 100% CPU. Handle releases are rate-limited and stale kernel tables are safely guarded. - Cycle-safe parent-PID hierarchy walks. Protected ancestor walks in
refine_categories_and_group_appsagainst cyclic parent PID loops caused by PID reuse or spoofing, preventing app-root infinite loops.
Hang Detection & Status Accuracy
- Sustained hang requirement for "Not responding".
IsHungAppWindowis an edge trigger that trips whenever a message pump takes longer than 5 seconds. TaskMan now requires the unresponsive state to hold continuously for a 10-second grace period before marking the process as "Not responding", eliminating false warnings on background or throttled games. - Accurate GPU driver reporting. Adapters lacking a user-mode driver now truthfully report unavailable ("—") rather than fabricating a "0.0.0.0" version.
Action Feedback & Toasts
- Toast auto-expiration & "Clear all". Restored a 30-second time-to-live with a smooth 600 ms fade-out for action toasts while retaining the manual close (
x) button. When multiple toasts accumulate, a convenient "Clear all" button clears the entire stack.
System Hotkey Interception
- Ultra-low latency keyboard hook. Elevated hook thread priority, moved window activation onto a background worker, and converted debounce tracking to lock-free atomics, bringing hook callback latency under 1 microsecond. Fixed hook uninstallation order to prevent worker event teardown races.
Startup Apps & Stability
- Startup toggle dispatch fix. Resolved worker thread lock contention when toggling startup applications by capturing target details at dispatch.
- Isolated crash dump unit testing. MiniDump test cases now run against an isolated child process, preventing loader/MUI lock deadlocks during parallel test runs.

A feature, safety, and UX release: deliberate toast dismissal via an interactive close button, service SeDebugPrivilege for elevated process termination, kernel memory composition visualization, dedicated/shared GPU metrics, measured startup impact, keyboard-navigable context menus, and safe dialog defaults.
Action Feedback & Toasts
- Deliberate close button on toasts. Status messages (toasts) displayed after actions (e.g. ending processes, toggling services, running tasks) no longer automatically vanish after a timer. Each toast now features a dedicated, interactive close (
x) button with hover feedback, and clicking the toast body or message text no longer dismisses it by accident.
Process Management & Service Privileges
- Elevated termination via service broker. Enabled
SeDebugPrivilegeon the LocalSystem service broker daemon. TaskMan can now cleanly terminate elevated and protected user-session processes without requiring the main GUI to run as Administrator. - Enhanced process termination diagnostics. Improved failure logging and error reporting with detailed system error codes when process termination is refused.
Performance Tab Enhancements
- Kernel memory composition bar. The Memory page now features a segmented memory bar visualizing In Use, Modified, Standby, and Free memory allocations derived from kernel page lists.
- Dedicated and shared GPU graphs. The GPU page separates dedicated video memory and shared system memory into distinct series and graphs.
- GPU metrics dropdown interaction. Fixed dropdown menu and context menu collision handling on the GPU engine selector.
Startup Apps
- Measured startup impact. Replaced static or unmeasured status with real startup impact calculations based on CPU execution time and disk I/O metrics.
- Optimistic toggle rollback. If enabling or disabling a startup item fails at the registry/SCM level, the UI switch rolls back to its true state with an explanatory error toast.
Keyboard Navigation & Dialog Safety
- Safe dialog keyboard defaults. Escape and unfocused Enter now safely resolve to Cancel across confirmation dialogs (End Task, History Deletion, Module Unload, etc.), preventing accidental kills on inadvertent Enter keypresses.
- Context menu keyboard navigation. Context menus across all tabs support full arrow key navigation, Enter activation, and Escape cancellation.
- State-aware service controls. Service action menus validate against current service status, preventing invalid Start/Stop requests, and confirm Stop/Restart actions.
Single-Instance Coordination
- Improved duplicate launch handling to seamlessly bring the existing window to the foreground without duplicate processes.

TaskMan v0.1.10
A feature and usability release: Private Working Set as the primary per-process memory metric (matching native Windows Task Manager), explicit RAM telemetry labeling and optional metrics (Working Set, Peak Working Set, Shared Working Set, Commit size), interactive header tooltips, crash dump progress modal with instant cancellation, and hotkey reliability improvements.
Process Memory Telemetry
- Private Working Set by default. Aligned per-process resident memory telemetry to Private Working Set (
SYSTEM_PROCESS_INFORMATION.WorkingSetPrivateSize) across Windows, matching the default "Memory" column in native Windows 11 Task Manager. - Explicit memory labeling. The Details column picker and header explicitly name the metric Memory (active private working set) (
Arbeitsspeicher (aktiver privater Arbeitssatz)), eliminating confusion between private resident pages and total working set. - Comprehensive RAM metrics in Details. Added Memory (shared working set) (
working_set - private_working_set) alongside Working set (memory), Peak working set (memory), and Commit size, allowing users to customize and view all memory dimensions side-by-side. - Process Properties memory stats. The Statistics tab now displays all five memory metrics: Private working set, Working set, Shared working set, Peak working set, and Commit size.
- Interactive header tooltips. Hovering over table column headers now displays concise, localized definitions explaining the telemetry and guiding users to additional metrics in Details.
Crash Dump Generation
- Real-time dump progress modal. Creating large memory dumps (e.g. Full dumps of multi-gigabyte processes) now displays an egui progress dialog showing percentage, bytes written vs. estimated total, MB/s write throughput, and elapsed time.
- Instant cancellation. Dumps can be cancelled immediately at any point via the Cancel button or Escape key using
MINIDUMP_CALLBACK_INFORMATION'sCancelCallback(< 1 ms latency). Partial dumps are cleanly deleted from disk.
Hotkey & Tray Fixes
- Ctrl+Shift+Esc tray reliability. Fixed an issue where releasing Ctrl or Shift before Escape while running in the system tray could leave the hotkey down-state debounced, requiring a second press to open TaskMan.

TaskMan v0.1.9
A feature and usability release: configurable process dump types (Minimal, Limited, Normal, and Full) and low-level keyboard hook interception of Ctrl+Shift+Esc in fullscreen 3D games to reliably bring TaskMan to the foreground.
Process Dumps
- Configurable dump types. The context menu on Processes and Details now offers a Create dump file submenu with Minimal, Limited, Normal, and Full dump options, matching System Informer / Process Hacker.
- Robust dump generation. Process dumps map directly to
MiniDumpWriteDumptypes with targeted type flags, with graceful fallback to reduced memory dump types if full address space access fails.
Fullscreen Games & Hotkeys
- Ctrl+Shift+Esc interception in fullscreen games. When exclusive or borderless fullscreen games hold focus, Windows suppresses shell
RegisterHotKeyregistrations, preventing Explorer from launchingtaskmgr.exe(and TaskMan's IFEO replacement). When TaskMan replacement is enabled, a dedicated low-level keyboard hook (WH_KEYBOARD_LLon threadtm-hotkey-hook) intercepts Ctrl+Shift+Esc directly from the raw input stream. - Forced foreground window switching. Paired with
force_foreground(AttachThreadInput+SwitchToThisWindow), TaskMan reliably punches through fullscreen foreground lock restrictions to bring its window to the front when invoked over a fullscreen application.
