TaskMan v0.1.3 is a portable Windows x86_64 and Linux x86_64 release.

This release makes Linux a usable desktop target: v0.1.2's Linux archive was a static musl build that could only run headless, and it listed every thread as a process. Both are fixed.

Linux:

  • The archive is now a GUI-capable glibc build, pinned to a glibc 2.17 ABI floor so it runs on old LTS distros. The static musl build remains available from the build system but is headless/--selfcheck only, because static musl has no dlopen for winit to load Wayland/X11.
  • The process list no longer includes threads. tm-engine, dconf worker, gmain, ... no longer appear as processes, so per-process memory/CPU and the process count are correct (a 39-process system no longer reports 61).
  • Sub-pixel (LCD/ClearType) text follows fontconfig's rgba setting: RGB or BGR when the desktop declares a horizontal stripe order, grayscale otherwise (including fractional-scaling setups). TASKMAN_SUBPIXEL=0|1 still forces it for A/B comparison.
  • The third process group is called "System processes" instead of "Windows processes".

Windows and both platforms:

  • Processes and Details no longer jump while processes spawn and exit. The viewport is anchored to the rows you are looking at (and to the selected row in particular), so a new process cannot push your selection out of view; equal-value rows no longer reshuffle on every sample.
  • Security hardening: broker user-SID authorization, service log-directory DoS fix, aligned Win32 buffers, CET-compatible binaries, and python build.py --audit (cargo-audit + gitleaks).
  • Process Properties inspector (General / Statistics / Security) with a Windows Security page, optional per-process network receive/send columns in Details, an I/O total column, Run dialog keyboard navigation, and native Task Manager launch / strict topmost fixes.

Downloads:

  • Windows: taskman-v0.1.3-windows-x86_64.zip — taskman.exe plus taskman-service.exe, the optional privileged broker. Keep both executables together; no installer is required.
  • Linux: taskman-v0.1.3-linux-x86_64.tar.gz — glibc build (2.17+); extract and run taskman.

SHA-256 checksums are attached for both archives.

Windows 11 x86_64 remains the primary supported platform.
